Tied up with an all day training today so here is the Monday afternoon report on the weekend:
Greeneville: 0-3 for the weekend
Friday: Eduin Ciriaco made his 3rd start for Greeneville. I think he wishes he could go back to the pin. He gave up 6 runs in 3 innings bringing his Starter ERA to 11.70. His relief ERA is 2.30 in 13 appearances.
Colton Pitkin pitched 3 innings of shut out relief. His ERA for 3 appearances in August is 0.00. There are words to show the improvement since July when his ERA in 3 appearances was 81.00. He had two appearances in July where he failed to retire a single batter.
Greeneville was down 7 nothing before getting 2 runs in the 8th & 9th innings. The final was a 7-4 loss.
Saturday: Greeneville left 8 men on base and struck out 11 times in a 4-2 loss.
Sunday: Kyle Greenwalt picked up his 7th loss in a 6-14 error plagued performance. Kyle Miller had a 3 run homer and Sweet & Rosario had 3 hits each.
Greeneville wraps up their season this week with Monday’s final road game @ Bluefield before returning home to play Kingsport in the final 2 home games.
Tri Cities: 1-2 on the weekend
Friday: A 3 run first given up by Anthony Bello led to a 4-1 loss.
Saturday: Tri Cities got out hit 16 to 10 but more ValleyCat’s crossed the plate in a 11-8 victory. Carrado & Dixon had 3 RBI each.
Sunday: Tri Cities got beat with help from a home town boy. Joe Mahoney who grew up in Troy NY helped the Iron Birds to an 11-5 defeat of the ValleyCats. Brandon Barnes homered for his team leading 9th of the season:

“It’s more about winning than myself doing well,” Barnes said. “But it is good to be hitting the ball well.”
Phillip Stringer flashed some leather:

Stringer robbed Joe Nowicki of a hit when he raced to his right to pick off a ball and then got enough on the throw to nail him at first.
“You won’t see a better fielding play than that in the majors,” Rancont said.
Earlier, Stringer ran about 100 feet to snare a ball in foul territory.
Lexington: 1-3 on the weekend
Friday: Lexington broke their latest loosing streak with an 9-1 win. Corey Bass got his first win of the season and Koby Clemens had 3 hits and 4 RBI. The Legends turned 4 double plays in the game.
Saturday: Lexington lost 7-5. Jhon Florentino homered for his second straight game. Leandro Cespedes was called up from Greeneville and pitched a shut out inning in relief. His final line from Greeneville is 4-5 with a 3.15 ERA. In 54 2/3 innings he struck out 52 batters, surrendered 48 hits, 12 walks and 19 earned runs.
Sunday: The Legends got beat 7-2. Sergio Severino & Ralph Henriquez were victimized by 5 stolen bases. Koby Clemens homered giving him 3 HR & 9 RBI in his last 5 games.
Salem: 3-0 for the weekend. Salem is trying to claim their playoff spot, they are 5 1/2 games up with 8 games left for the wild card spot. They are two games behind the leader Kinston for the 2nd half championship.
Friday: Salem got a strong pitching performance from Casey Hudspeth who went 7 innings giving up only one unearned run in the 5-1 victory. Salem won in dramatic fashion pushing across 4 runs in the 9th. Tim Torres hit his 5th homer in 30 games with the Avs.
Saturday: Another rally for the win. After being down 2-0 and 3-2, the Avs got a pivotal run in the 8th to win 4-3. Mitch Einerston had 3 hits including his 11th homer and his 39th double. Perez allowed 3 runs on 10 hits in 6 innings. Evan Englebrook got the win pitching 3 innings of shut out ball.
Sunday: Polin Trindad pitched another good game going 7 innings allowing just one run on 4 hits while striking out 6. The Avs entered the 7th up 4-0 but solo runs in the 7th, 8th & 9th made it interesting before Raymar Diaz came in for the final two outs of the 9th earning his first save. The Avs are still awaiting someone to be assigned to their roster to replace their former closer Ryan McKeller who was called up to CC. Rosales hit a solo homer and Chris Johnson hit a 3 run shot for the offense.
CC: 2-2 on the weekend. Currently 3 games back with 8 games left. 4 of those games are against San Antonio who leads the division.
Friday: Brad James pitched a solid outing in a 2-0 shutout. James earned his first win for CC going 7 innings allowing only 3 hits.
Saturday: Paulino got no support in a 1-0 loss.

“That was tough,” Hooks manager Dave Clark said. “You know sooner or later, someone’s going to score, but you hate to see it happen that way. It’s tough to swallow — very tough.”
Sunday: The Hooks split the double header. Winning game one 3-2 and losing game two 4-0.

“I’m very concerned,” Clark said. “If you look at (Sunday), even in the (opener), we really didn’t swing the bats. But this team can hit. It just looked to me that guys are trying to do a little bit too much. We’re seeing a lot of guys overswinging and not giving themselves a chance. But we’ll get it together.”
Round Rock: 1-4 on the weekend.
It was a long weekend for Round Rock. It got off to a good start with the rehab boys (Backe & Sampson) pitching a 6-0 victory. After that, not much to write about. The long weekend that included two double headers ended with a single game on Sunday that ended in 13 innings, a 1-2 loss.
