AP recap
Craig Biggio started the home half with his all-time NL leading 53rd leadoff home run, but that was basically the highlight of the game as Wandy Rodriguez lost his home mojo and fell to the Nationals at Minute Maid Park for the Astros second straight home loss to the lowly gNats. Poor pitching, misjudged fly balls (welcome back Hunter Pence!!!), and LOBsters ruined any chance of salvaging this game. The gNats #2 and #3 hitters, Nook Logan and Ryan Zimmerman, combined to hit for the cycle totaling 8 hits, 4 runs, 7 RBIs, a walk and a stolen base.
“We didn’t get hits with men on base, plain and simple,” manager Phil Garner said. “You’ve got to get them on base, but you’ve got to get the big hits. We did put the ball in play a couple of times tonight with men on base but it comes back to bite you.”
gNats are pesky little critters.
