Round Rock:

Gothreaux who has had his struggles this season, pitched 6 innings giving up only one run. The Express tallied 3 runs off Ervin Santana despite 10 strike outs. Tim “chip off the old rock” Raines had a double and a triple. His is hitting .455 in his last 10 games.
Corpus Christi:
Miguel Ascencio pitched better than his trade mate Jason Jennings did in his last start but just barely. He gave up 6 runs in the second en route to a 10-4 loss. He ended up giving up 8 runs on 12 hits, with 3 walks and two home runs in 5 innings pitched.

“He was up a lot tonight, and you can’t leave pitches up in this ballpark,” Clark said. “Every time it seemed like he elevated at all, it was hit hard.”
The Hooks had dug out of the 6 run hole on Saturday could only get as close as 8-4 last night.
Salem:
Salem manager Jim Pankovits didn’t get a win for his birthday. Chris Salamida didn’t make it out of the 5th inning as the Avs lost 7-4. Billy Hart hit a two run home run.

“Even a blind squirrel gets a nut once in a while,” Hart said. “It was up in the zone and out. It doesn’t happen very often.”
“It’s nice to see him drive the ball like he did with the home run,” Pankovits said. “I’d like to see him do a little more of that.”
Salem has people coming and going all over the place:

Avalanche closer Sammy Gervacio was promoted to Double-A Corpus Christi and infielder Osvaldo Fernando was called up to Triple-A Round Rock….Infielder Tim Torres was called up from Lexington for the third time this season.
Lexington:
Lexington ended their 8 game road trip at 1-7 with a 6-4 loss at Columbus. The win was picked up by former Astros farm hand Wilton Noel.
Tri Cities:
The fog rolled in to Vermont and caused a shortened game last night. The ValleyCats lost 2-0 in 5 innings. Victor Garate came in with runners at 1 & 3rd in the fifth. Unleashed a wild pitch that allowed the runner to score from 3rd and then the game was called due to the fog. Tri Cities has not scored in 14 innings and have lost 4 straight.
Greeneville:
They didn’t lose last night because they were off. Due to the 9 team schedule, Greeneville is enjoying back to back off days Monday & Tuesday. The big news in Greeneville was the call up of Juan Gutierrez from Round Rock. That is the first call up to the bigs of a player who played in Greeneville. Juan was 8-2 with a 3.70 ERA in 2004 for the G-stros.
