The Footer Recap

Life at home and work is handing me a red-assed beatdown right now, so we’re going to keep it short and sweet this time.

Roy took the wheel of the good ship Astro and pointed the listing vessel back toward safe harbor last night, going 8 strong against the Dickities. He is now 18-1 against the Redlegs, who will eventually just forfeit his starts so they can get an extra off-day. Sparky was merciless and unfeeling, pitching to contact and tearing through 24 outs on 95 pitches, 74(!) of which were strikes. He only allowed 4 hits and a walk, with the lone Dickities tally coming on a solo pat from The Big Breeze, Adam Dunn. Dot pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to nail down the win without drama.

Pigpen opened the game with a double high off the wall by the visitor’s bullpen, just missing an opportunity to ride Flapjack’s horsie. He scored on a triple by HUNTER! PENCE!!!, who flew around the bases in a blur of flailing limbs to notch his first big league RBI. Twinkie plated Gunther with a single to put the Good Guys up 2-0, which would be it for a while. The only other score came in the bottom of the 6th when Bidge drove in Ausmus, but got nailed at second trying to stretch it to a double.

The ‘Stros left another 11 on tonight, mostly failing to capitalize on decent traffic. It was enough for Roy this time, though, so let’s just sweep it under the rug and move along. Wandy takes the hill tonight in the rubber game, squaring up against Eric Milton at 7:05. Both pitchers are still hunting for their first W of the season, and I say Wandy gets his tonight. Go get ’em.
