Seems the only drama late in this game was if Bruce “Backstop” Froemming would remain upright for the entire nine. The veteran home plate ump had regular visits with Astros trainer Rex Jones due to numerous body shots, and even took a deflection off of a Pigpen plunk. The Black and Blue toughed it out as the Astros hooked the Marlins 6-1 and swept the short series at Minute Maid Park.

The Horse slammed three hits and drove in four. His two-run Crawford shot in the fourth put the Astros ahead for good. He also had a two-run double off the wall scoreboard, and was seen in the dugout afterwards riding his stick. Craig Biggio and Adam Everett had a pair of hits each as the Astros cruised to the win.

Dragging ass Roy Oswalt, pitching on a mere three days rest, allowed a premature Handjob in the first, but regained his composure after the dinger and shut down the Fish until he left with one out in the seventh. He pitched like he does most every time, going after hitters with an assortment of pitches he throws for strikes and changing speeds. The bullpen featured several short cameo appearances to mop it up.

The GameZone tonight featured a motley crew of stat freaks, drunks, and three-way participants. Somewhere in that mix, there might be a play or two described, and more than one confession.

If you were fortunate enough to miss that action, you can always bring it to the TalkZone.
