The Good Guys continued to enjoy the friendly confines as they won their second straight day game 4-2 over the Cubbies of Chicago. Today’s game was not as frigid as yesterdays, but there was still a stiff wind that kept the ball in the yard all day. Idiot drunk shirtless unemployed Cub fans remained until the bitter end.

Chris Sampson started and went five shutout innings to earn the win. Nothing really stands out about Sampson, except he get the job done. He throws strikes and keeps the ball down. Rick White had mega-movement on his fastball for two perfect innings, and Chad Qualls followed with another perfect inning, but new closer Dan Wheeler ran into a bit of trouble securing the win in the ninth, allowing a pair of runs before closing it out with the winning run at the plate.

The Astros jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first on a run-scoring single by Carlos Lee followed by a two-run double over the head of new Cub centerfielder Alfonzo Soriano by Luke Scott, who wore brick colored mirror shades to fend off the glare from all those bare skinned degenerates in the stands. Scott plated the Astros fourth and final tally in the fifth inning on a tapper to second base with the bases juiced, after Craig Biggio reached on the third error of the game by defensive minded Cub shortstop César Izturis and a pair of walks.

A couple of defensive blunders did not cost the good guys, but could in the future unless this is corrected. The final out of the game was a high pop between Berkman and Biggio that neither player cleared out and actually collided with Lance out-reaching for the out. The other was a high fly to right center that Scott had to make a late break on to get under, with Burke backing off. Burke needs to take charge in center. No harm done, but both of these plays were unnerving.

The Astros will try to break out the brooms tomorrow before ugly weather sets in. Wandy Rodriguez (0-1) vs. lefty Rich Hill (1-0) at 1:20.
