The Astros came to Minute Maid Park today trying to salvage a game from the Cubs in a three game home series already lost, but were shutout by a rookie lefthander making his major league debut in this quickly spiraling out of control season. The embarrasing home sweep, their 5th straight loss a home, was mainly due to the anemic offense, as the Astros have not scored in the last 21 innings.
Andy Pettitte pitched a complete game four hitter, his only blemish a solo crawford shot, but picked up his 13th defeat of the season.
The Astros left 11 men on base today. As the Astros were down to two outs in the 9th, the camera scanned the dugout and JD commented “There’s not a lot of hope in those eyes.”
Road Trip starts in Brewer Town tomorrow evening for game one of a 4-game set, Ben Sheets against rookie Jason Hirsh.
