Astros win thriller in 9th with a walk-off shot

Posted on June 11, 2005 by mihoba in Game Recaps

Roger Clemens was denied his 5th win of the season when  Brad Lidge blew the save in the 9th, but  Morgan Ensberg left Astros fans happy with a two-out, three run jack in the bottom of the ninth and a victory over the Blue Jays of Toronto 6-3.

Clemens  pitched  7 solid innings, allowing 3 hits and 4 walks with 7 punchouts. The only blemish was a solo homer in the 5th, just out of the  reach  of rightfielder  Jason Lane. Ancient lefty  John Franco and  Russ Springer pitched a scoreless eight, paving the way for Lidge, who blew his 3rd save of the season, only to get the win after Ensberg’s heroics.

Adam Everett and rookie  Willy Taveras had three hits each to lead the offensive effort.

The Astros try for the sweep tomorrow, Josh Towers vs. Roy Oswalt, 1:05 on FSSW.
