Greeneville was well… Greeneville: The lost all three games this weekend. Some of the player development brass was in town so they used 13 pitchers Saturday and Sunday. Of those pitchers, only 4 had an ERA under 6 and only one has an ERA under 4 (Wabick 3.94). Andy Launier has returned from injury very hot. Since he returned on 7/31, he has a 6 game hitting streak. Greeneville still leads the league in attendance with averaging 1584 per night.

So I finally got an Astros game on my TV, and unfortunately for me it was the Jason Jennings one-man re-enactment of the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Though I don’t think the original had as many cannon shots. At least the Padres kidnapped Morgan Ensberg before they left town, leaving behind a stack of blankets and a pouch of magic beans. Mo had a burst of insight on the plane to the Pet Shop, realized that lo! he needed to swing the bat in order to get hits, and then cranked two homers.
Then the Astros went to Hotlanter and got spanked twice, but somehow pulled a 14-inning win out of Jennings’ gigantic ass. The game-winning hit stayed in the backyard, but it was enough to put the game in the can.
Now the Astros head to Miami for the hurricane season, where the best we can probably hope for is not getting rained out, so we don’t have to go back.
Things aren’t much better for the Marlins. They’re out of the NL East race, and Dontrelle Willis is stinking up the joint. They’ve lost their last three series, including a four-game sweep in Arizona.Read More
Backe Back, Everybody Wins Except Greeneville
Greeneville took the loss yet again last night. Noguara pitched well but was hurt by poor defense from Rosario in the 1st. After a bloop hit to the lead off man, Rosio booted a bouncer that allowed the second man on and then missed the catch on an attempted steal of third. Greeneville’s bats were absent again as they had only 3 hits in the game and struck out 12 times. Tal Smith was present for tonights game. He and other Astros brass will be in town this weekend, expect several in game changes and multiple pitching changes as the brass want to see what they have in Greeneville. Greeneville’s winning percentage is the worst in all of minor league baseball.

Greeneville was beaten by two different teams on Wednesday. Kingsport drove down for a 10:30 game and defeated the G-stros 9-2. Kyle Greenwalt started this game. He made it through the first two innings unscathed. In the 3rd a sequence of HBP, Walk, error put runners at 2nd & 3rd with no one out. The inning ended with the K-mets getting 4 runs off 2 hits. Greenewalt was only charged with 2 of the 6 runs that scored off him. Urbina continues to be ineffective out of the pen. He went 1 2/3 innings and faced 14 batters allowing 2 inherited runners to score and 3 earned runs of his own. The pitching highlight was Duran who pitched 4 scoreless innings but the damage was already done. Kyle Miller hit his 5th homer of the season for the offensive highlight. Defensively, Anderson, Brown, Rosario and Axel Gonzales all committed errors.
