MusicMan Special Guest Prevew! Astros @ Padres

Astros (54-67) at Padres (65-55)
PETCO Park

Friday, August 17,  9:05 PM, FSN
Saturday, August 18, 9:05 PM, KNWS (“the blowtorch”)
Sunday, August 19, 3:05 PM, FSN

First things first: Yes, this is a rushed, pinch-hit job, and yes, I will work in as many “Anchorman” references as the law will allow.

San Diego.  It does not translate as “Saint Diego”.  It is from the German “Sahn Diagho”, meaning “Michael Barrett’s Vagina”.

Ever since the great trade of ’94, it’s been hard to work up too much hatred for the Padres.  With so many players switching sides, there became some sort of odd bond between the two franchises.  The Plumber (whose name should be banned just as equally as a certain shortstop from the Deep South) did his best to break these bonds, but to this day, the Padres keep a soft spot in my heart.  Mister Peepers becomes the latest in a long line of such transplants, and I wish him well.

Wandy pitched well, well enough to swing his road fortunes towards the positive but errors – and Derek Lowe – combined to send Wandy and the Good Guys to the loss column again. The Dojers whacked the Astros 6-2 in the finale at the Ravine.

This will be abbreviated today, user error just resulted in losing the last hour’s work

Round Rock took a wrong turn in Albuquerque.
They came back from a 7-1 hole to tie the game at 7 all but couldn’t pull out the win. The final was a 9-7 loss. Klassen & Ransom both homered in the 4th and Ransom added a two run double in the 5th.Read More

Patton does okay on the road, Perez digs hole, Qualban picks & Greeneville Wins

Posted on August 15, 2007 by Duman in Bus Ride Archive

Round Rock pitcher Troy Patton started on the road last night. He has struggled on the road this year. I wouldn’t call his 6 innings of work struggling but it wasn’t his best work either. He gave up 4 runs in the six innings off 7 hits and two walks. He struck out 4. He left the game down 3-2 but the offense picked up the pace from there. The Express plated 2 in the 7th, 5 in the 8th and an insurance run in the 9th for a 10-4 win. Ransom, Conrad & Saccomanno all had solo homers. The hero of the game was Brian Gordan came on in relief of Patton in the 7th. He got the win and had a 3 run triple in the 8th.Read More

AP recap via Yahoo!

The Astros busted a 1-1 tie in the 6th inning by scoring six runs, and held on in a wild 9th to record another road victory against the Dodgers. Matt Albers allowed a solo homer in the first, but settled down and pitched 6 2/3 strong innings to earn the win. In their big inning, the Astros combined six singles, a walk, and a sac fly to bust the game open, and Brad Lidge escaped a jam in the 9th for the save, with an assist from this man. Read More
