RR Wins Despite Travel Pains, CC Gets Solid Start From Douglass, Salem Pen Blows Lead, Lex Can’t Come Back From Early Hole

Lexington

Jeff Icenogle faced the Greensboro Grasshoppers for the second time in five days. Both outings were forgetable as the Grasshoppers round house kicked the Legends 7-5.

“They hit him fairly well when we played at Lexington,” Hoppers manager Edwin Rodriguez said. “Today they were very aggressive. The hitters have been hitting the ball very well. It’s one of those things you get in a slump and you don’t hit then someone starts hitting. It’s contagious.”

RR Runs Out Of The Game, Florentino Still Hot, DeLome Leads Lex

Posted on June 4, 2008 by Duman in From the Bus Stop

Round Rock

The Express ran themselves out of chance to tie the final game against New Orleans.

The promising inning yielded only one run and ended when catcher Humberto Quintero was thrown out at the plate by left fielder Chris Aguila. Quintero was on second base, and he attempted to score on a single by shortstop Edwin Maysonet, despite Express manager Dave Clark giving him a sign to hold up at third base.

“Maybe I could have been a little bit more animated and basically pushed him down,” said Clark. “In the back of my mind, I’m saying he’s not a real speedy guy, but the fact is he went for it and it was a close play at the plate.”

The Express went on to lose 3-2.Read More
