Round Rock lost a close 2-1 game in Memphis last night. Nick Gorneault hit his 18th homer of the season to account for the lone run.

Corpus Christi got a 4 for 4 night from Mitch Einertson to lead to a 9-8 victory. Einertson is hitting .368 since his return from the DL in July. Prior to going on the DL, he was hitting .221.

Let’s start our trip around the farm up in Tri Cities this morning. The ValleyCats placed four players on the National League NY-Penn League All Star Team. The four are: Phil Rummel, Phil Disher, J. B. Shuck & T. J. Steele. One omission that raised some eyebrows was David Flores.

“I understand, everyone can’t make it,” Rancont said. “It’s a tough process picking those guys. I’m happy for our four.”

The Good & Bad Report: DSL Astros

The DSL Astros are bad. There is not much else to say. Their record is 17-42. It is the second worst record in the 37 team DSL. There are six organizations in the league that have two teams with better records than the D-Stros. Only the split squad of the Diamondbacks/Reds have a worse record.

Weekend Update

Well it was a weekend to remember in Round Rock. The Express took two of three from the I-Cubs but it was the loss on Saturday night that was most memorable. Friday, the Express rode Nick Gorneault’s grand slam to a 7-4 win. Sunday, they rode Ron Chiavacci’s solid start to a 4-1 win. But Saturday night was the big deal. The I-Cubs hit 8 home runs, 4 by the same player. That player also started a triple play that on replays appears to have been the result of a bad call. It was the second triple play the Express have hit into in less than 3 weeks.Read More

Round Rock is sitting in 3rd in the PCL American South division at 54-65, 11 games out of the lead.

The Good:

The Hitters

Um… Well… Ummm. They haven’t struck out very much. Their 770 whiffs put them with the 4th fewest.

Mark Saccomanno has 126 hits. That ties him for 5th most. His 24 homers tie him for 5th as well. His number of total bases puts him tied for 3rd (231).

Yordany Ramirez is tied for 8th most stolen bases (17 in 25 attempts).
