Finally!!! Games will be played
« on: March 01, 2007, 11:01:46 am »
Astros first spring game is today at 12 CST.  Playing Cle.  I am hoping MLBTV is free during the spring so I can watch it while at work...  At least it looks like it will be on MLBTV.

There goes my productivity...  from bad to worse!

I recently paid my dues for MLBTV this season, and I'm disappointed with the lack of availability of spring training games.

The spring training schedule shows only 7 games on MLBTV

At least we can listen to the rest.

I think 790 has all the spring games.

Actually, I think 740 carries the weekend games during spring training.

On MLB.com, the way I found it was by going to the "Audio&Video" menu and selecting "Multimedia Guide", which takes me to The Link

Edit: And on the astros.com website it's the "Multimedia" menu.

Well, I agreed with my wife to cut cable tv as long as I could sign up for MLBTV. Baseball is the only tv I can't live without.

You do realize that you are in the Astros blackout market and won't be able to watch the games live.  You will be able to watch the game after the fact though.  Unless you are able to get around the blackout restrictions.....

From what I understand that's just the home games I can't see, right?

If I can't watch any of them then I'm gonna be pissed.

I'm pretty sure you're out of all of them, but that's besides the point. You were really comfortable with only being able to see half of the games, and on a computer, no less? Holy shit, man. That's no good, you need to work on that arrangement, post haste. Next thing you know, you're using smoke signals and tin cans for communication, living in a thatch hut, and learning how to make your own hemp sandals from your new friends in the commune. Right the ship quickly, there's still time...

LOL! Kinda... Eh. Well I made that "agreement" last October. I'll see if they will refund my money, and let me just convert it to gameday audio (last season I was able to listen to some games that way that I couldn't anywhere else).

MLB is very understanding, forgiving, and always bends over backwards for its treasured fans and consumers.

In other words, good luck with that.

Don't take my word for it of course, but do feel free to leverage your assumed predicament to get yourself out of the deal altogether. There are lawyers in here who can help you with your problem (I'm referring to your contract with the missus here, not MLB). Godspeed.

Lets say you are in the blackout zone, and you don't know it, and you go to buy one game for that day. You'd think that MLB.tv would stop and say 'hey, you won't be able to watch this game (or these games) from this computer.'

They don't. You spend your $3.99 and then they tell you. Shitbags.
Oye. Vamos, vamos.

You're probably SOL.  They are notoriously hard to cancel from (nice little evergreen clause in the agreement).  All is not lost, though.  If you look around you'll discover there are proxy games you can play to get around the blackout.  It's a pain, but when you've got 3 hours to spare and only Milo to listen to, you make do.
