Nice contest at the Chron you may be interested in

JDJO and Roy Oswalt have come up with a pretty good, nay, great idea for a contest that has some sweet ramifications for the winner.

Read about it in his blog:
Present Roy Oswalt At the Baseball Writers Awards

So get your crayons out, draft up your entry and send away to the JDJO blog.  You might want to use the spell checker thingy if you want to be taken seriously.

Just sayin'

The posters on the Chronicle blogs don't seem to have much time for things like spell checkers.  I have the misfortune of reading them way too much at work since I only get 60 mins of quota time at work to browse anything good.

Some of the suggestions on there are amusing though.  This summer, I recall one poster suggesting the Astros fix their catching problem by sending Lamb to Round Rock for 10 days to teach him how to catch.  Brilliant!

I was thinking about submitting a piece I wrote back in 1998 for the BFT:

A Season of Dreams

I am sure someone jaded enough will feel my piece is not worthy of inclusion because it speaks highly of McGwire and Sosa in a way.  Two guys who are now basically villianized by the baseball public.  Too bad, because it isn't really about McGwire and Sosa, it is about a moment captured in time that had the convergence of family, memories, American traditions and baseball all wrapped into one.  A perfect storm of goodness for an avowed baseball fan that is slighty tinged by the loss of his father, but placated by the great memories of the same and all the things we shared while rooting for our team: The Houston Astros.

I think I'll decide later, I'm leaning towards staying out because I don't want to subject my attempt at sharing a moment that is now a great memory to the unwashed masses per se.

We'll see.

Noe, you should enter "A season of dreams".  I had forgotten how good it was until I reread it.

I'm at work and my IT Nazis have anything with the word "blog" blocked.  Can someone post the gist?
