It is driving me nuts to see all these websites and "news sources reporting the Pettitte deal as a "one-year, $16 million" deal.  With the option, it was for twice that long and twice that much.  I guess I shouldn't worry about that sort of thing.
blah, blah, blah . . .

An unrelated issue, but a relevant thread title.

Boras asserts that a player who has never pitched a game in the major leagues is worth "in excess" of $100 million. Oh right, and there aren't any fake competing offers to float out into the universe and this comes after the Red Sox already paid over $50 million for the pleasure of having to do business with this leech.

Uhhhh, correct me if I'm wrong, but in life...you make choices aaaaaaaaaaaand you live with'm.  I'm not longer suprised or disgusted by Boras' negotiations.  Instead, I'm amused by the teams that continue to deal with him.

I mean really...deciding to negotiate with Boras and then whining about the results is like like deciding (on purpose) to hit your thumb nice, hard and flush with a hammer...then afterwards bitching about how bad it hurts and how unfair life is.  Give me a break.

Here's a  summary of the Boras/Red Sox negotiations so far. Some highlights:

Quote:

?It?s fair to say we?re on Scott Boras? doorstep because he hasn?t negotiated with us so far,? Henry said from Florida. ?We?re taking the fight directly to him - the fight to have a negotiation here.?

Quote:

Epstein said it was ?highly unusual? to present a second offer before a counter-offer to the first one was received. ?Normally that?s not good policy,? said Epstein.

Now why do those tactics seem oddly familiar?
"Holy shit, Mozart. Get me off this fucking thing."
