I just wish when I heard him or read his stuff that I wouldn't think that he still seems so bitter.

I do agree that we need more than Lee.

I read this kind of stuff and think, then what would you suggest they do?  The Astros announced, loudly, they wanted to improve their offense for next season.  They didn't think they were one slick fielding left fielder away from taking the division from the Cardinals.  They tried to sign a free agent for a reasonable price, that didnt work.  Purpura said that he couldn't find any matches for trades at the GM meeting.  So they went back to the free agent market and dealt with it as it is, not as they wish it was.  Does anyone think that it is a revelation to Purpura and Mclane that $100 million is a lot of money?  Anyone think they didn't consider what it does to the future before they signed that contract?

I listened to an interview with Dierker the other day on 610, and he basically had the same things to say as he did on this blog entry.

He did mention talking to AP at his golf tournament a couple of weeks back.  Apparently Andy told him that last season was the first time in his career his team failed to make the playoffs and it just wasn't much fun. WFW.

I guess this is his justification for playing the same crap with us that Roger is.

Yeah. 2004 must have been a lot more fun for him.
