I've been watching the games with the sound muted. Sometimes with the captions, often without. Easy enough to follow a game with out those guys to distract me.

Yep, real easy. And when someone throws are really fast pitch, your TV screen is engulfed in flames which tells you what happened even with the sound off.

I'm sorry, there's no way around it.  That is a man in a wig with huge tits.  If that isn't FOX, I don't know what is.

During the season, they have two men in the booth and have very little to contribute.  So they try to make to post season better by adding Lou P to the mix.  Now there are three guys with nothing to contribute.  Let's try just one man in the box doing play by play.  My 7 year old can provide the color commentary that would match the Fox guys.
Always ready to go to a game.

I just read on someone's blog "how is it possible that Zelasko looks 18 months pregnant this year?"

Did anyone else that Tigers montage that Zelasko was reading at "Gotta Make the Donuts" super disclaimer speed?

There was enough time for them to yammer on about the Yanks  and Joe Torre, but they had to speed up just to give an already-dumbed-down explanation of how the Tigers came to be in the ALCS.  Thanks again, FOX.

She's been trying to hatch an original thought for the last two postseasons, but the little fucker still won't emerge. So she just sits there and babbles, waiting for something meaningful to emerge from her birth canal. One time she almost produced an intelligent comment about the Mets, but it turned out to be a squeaky pussy fart.

The most (revolting? bizarre? I don't know; words fail me) on-air moment of last year came when a very pregnant Zelasko was wearing some orange outfit and interviewing people on the field.  We were treated to a full view, and I swear to God, she looked like a pumpkin with legs.

I thought it was just me.  That was insane.  Every 10 seconds or so I'd think to myself, "What the hell did they just say?"

On second thought, maybe she did actually give birth. Because now I have a pretty good idea where Cooter the Talking Baseball came from.

Leaving the sound on does have its rewards.

My favorite moment from last night -- Piniella was talking about how Leyland reminded him a little of Billy Martin in his approach, talk is cheap, just do it, they like to win.  Brennaman made some fawning comment to Piniella, who then said, kind of sheepishly, "I like to win, too."

At that point Lyons, who apparently is brainless, jumps in and says, "Then why the heck did you take the Tampa Bay job?"  Followed by a prolonged silence.

Piniella's reasons for taking that job were somewhat sentimental, as was widely reported at the time; so anyone who was paying any attention at all knew Tampa was Lou's hometown; his father was quite ill and Lou wanted to be near him (he died pretty soon after); and Piniella's wife and kids stayed in Tampa during the season while he was out in Seattle, and he missed them.  Now this dumbass Lyons is calling him out on it.  During that silence, I kind of thought (hoped?) the next sound would be Lyons going down, Dibble-like.

Then the idiot, who apparently really is brainless and clueless, didn't take a hint from Piniells's refusal to answer, and asked again.  Silence, and then a mumbled, "We had a lot of young players... " from Lou.  I give Piniella points for not tossing 'Psycho' out of the booth at that point.

NY Times did an article on the FOX announcers, they say "Steve Lyons, a childish personality who has never attempted to live down his nickname, Psycho."
