The hell? (re: Twins/A's)
« on: October 04, 2006, 04:29:31 pm »
GameDay says "inside the park HR on a line drive to CF" for Kotsay to put the A's up 4-2.

Naturally, I was on a friggin' conference call at the time.

What happened?  Did Torii's legs fall off or something?
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Wow, inside the park HR?

What I find even more amazing is how quietly the Twinkies are going in the first round of the playoffs.  Maybe they like being down and seemingly out of it before they start to play for real, but they had better get a move on soon if they want to advance.

What's even WEIRDER, is that the Twins announcers just told us that the last postseason inside the park HR was....4 years ago TODAY, A's against the Twins.

Terrible mental error for Hunter.  He thought he could dive for it at the last minute. No catch, ball rolls all the way to the wall and Kotsay scored easily.

He should have just played it on the bounce there were 2 out in the inning.  And Kendall would not have scored from first on just the base hit.

Holy crap: Torii Hunter just did something incredibly, diabolically stupid. Kotsay loops one to center field, and Hunter tries to dive and grab it. He misses it, it goes to the wall and Kotsay comes all the way home with an inside-the-parker. And that, friends, was as bad a postseason mistake as you'll see someone make. You'll see it about a million times in the next 24 hours.

Yeah, it doesn't look good.  Almost half of us in the Race For the DVD are about to be eliminated.

MRaup will walk with this thing, I tell you.

If he wins, then he should be given all the prizes.

Considering the A's are 0-9 in games with an opportunity to win the Division series, I'm not convinced. Just watch, someone is going to forget to touch home, or stop in the middle or third and home to argue a possible interference call, or do something else dumb to cost Oakland the series.

And that is why you had no part whatsoever in the rules-making process.

Who's throwing Game Three?  Haren/BRadke?

No reason to even try with two out already.  Inexplicable!

Given that I gambled Beane's shit would work this year, I'm pretty happy with this turn of events.

Well, bench has a good point.  The A's could lose Game Three, then they start a really shaky pitcher in Game Four.  Then Game Five is back in the Dome with Santana.

Series ain't over yet.

Yep. Harden should start Game 4 (if necc.) for the A's.

The Twins announcers refer to their manager "Gardee."

I know jocks, especially pro jocks, ain't the sharpest peanuts in the turd, but why does this form of "nickname" continue?
