Thanks to the Stros

Just wanted to say that this team is amazing.  You can throw every sports cliche at them, and it's all true.  They never say die, it ain't over til it's over, everything.

I didn't want to stop believing in them because of what they have done the past few seasons, but it was pretty hard to think they were going anywhere a mere week ago.  Now that's all changed.

Even if they don't get into the playoffs I am very excited that they are playing so well.  They are not going gentle into that good night.

This is a great team, and despite sluggish play throughout the middle of the season the beginning and coda have been awesome.  I will miss watching this team when the season is over.  Here's hoping there's another month before that happens.

Fuck this talk.  You can do this in a week.

Right now, I'm thinking Astros Revenge Tour.

First stop, Pittsburgh.  Beat up on the kid brother (not revenge, but it's where we go first).

Second stop, Atlanta.  Hopefully we win that series and go to the playoffs, the Braves spend their first October at home in what seems like decades.

Third stop, San Diego.  You cocksuckers owe me for 1998.  So does Angel Hernandez.

Fourth stop, New York.  20th Anniversary.  I've waited a long time for this.

Final stop, World Domination.  I'm not asking for much here.

Ahhh, yes.  The Dream Scenario.

But let me add one twist:

The Astros beat San Diego when an extra off day allows Roy Oswalt to beat the Pads in games 1 and 3.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Holy shit, that would be awesome.

Roy pitches Game 1 and 3 as ESPN shuffles the playoffs around, Angel Hernandez calls Brian Giles out at third on a play where half his fucking body is past the bag, Billy Spiers comes out of retirement.

Who gets to play Sterling Hitchcock?

Well, except that Wandy won't be starting Game 2, I don't think.

I think the order is going to be a little different.  I think that the Astros get the Mets in the NLDS and the Phillies in the NLCS.  Equally good for me.  I've hated those Philly cocksuckers for a very long time.  Maybe the Astros can make Art Howe an honorary coach and somehow pull off a triple play.  Now that would be karma.

Wow... after avenging the '04 NLCS loss by beating the co-ards last year, the Stros could conceivably avenge their other NLCS losses this season by beating the Stem and Phils en route to the promised land.

Isn't Hernandez the one that had the "no call" on Biggio and the baseline at 2B Sunday Night?

Yep. And I was impressed he didn't run LaGenius before Tony was all the way out of the dugout.

Yep, and the one who called Jason Lane's leadoff double a home run in Game 3 of the World Series.

Otherwise, Angel Hernandez is not one of my favorite umpires.

You've got the dream scenario, Todd. I was at game five against Philadelphia in 1980 and that was tough to live down. The revenge tour sounds sweet to me. Let's do this William Tecumseh Sherman    style and drive 'em all into the sea!
