Out On A Limb

If the Astros win the next 13 games, I guarantee they make the playoffs.

In slightly related news, (and I'm being serious about this) does anyone know when TicketMaster gives refunds back for post-season tickets?

Sadly, I've been mathematically eliminated from co-repeating.

Better me eliminated than the team, though. Glad the rest of the NL is doing worse than expected.

In 2003 it was around the first of November for me.

Let me see if I have this right.  They charged me $20 per ticket for the convenience of locking up something like $2100 in cash for 3 fucking months to an event that won't even happen?

...if only we had some decent lawyers in here.

I was reading somewhere a current (legal) scam in Britan was to make up some event, like a reunion concert for some band, then sell tix. The event never happens, so you have to contact them to get your money back, which happens much later, and minus the service fee.

That sounds about right. But, remember, Uncle Daytie, Rajah and Co. have to make a living and take care of their families.  Your convenience fees and interest help keep all of the Clemenses outfitted in brand new Hummers.

All the decent ones work for MLB and draft the business arrangements that fleeced you out of your hard-earned cash.

No joke.  I called the Astros around the middle of Oct. and they told me it's the ticket company (can't remember which one  because they didn't start using Ticketmaster until 2004, maybe it was tickets.com?).  I called the ticket company and they came right out and said it would be within 30 days of the end of the regular season and the rep told me to expect them to take close to the full 30 days.  I should say all of this might be different now that they use Ticketmaster- the Astros have never missed the playoffs since switching to them so I don't know how they do it.

Listen to this one then; you open a company called the Arse Tickler's Faggot Fan Club. You take an advert in the back page of some gay mag, advertising the latest in arse-intruding dildos, sell it a bit with, er . . . I dunno, `does what no other dildo can do until now', latest and greatest in sexual technology. Guaranteed results or money back, all that bollocks. These dills cost twenty-five each; a snip for all the pleasure they are going to give the recipients. They send a cheque to the company name, nothing offensive, er, Bobbie's Bits or something, for twenty-five. You put these in the bank for two weeks and let them clear. Now this is the clever bit. Then you send back the cheques for twenty-five pounds from the real company name, Arse Tickler's Faggot Fan Club, saying sorry, we couldn't get the supply from America, they have sold out. Now you see how many of the people cash those cheques; not a single soul, because who wants his bank manager to know he tickles arses when he is not paying in cheques!
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

No doubt, I'll never make the mistake of supporting my team again.
