to play where? not SS, for sure.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

A Young-Biggio combo would need a rover.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Umm, you may recall that when the Rangers had A-Rod, Young played 2B.

I will take Young over Biggio (as he is playing now) or Burke.

And he is actually a pretty decent SS.  Nobody is as good as AE with the glove though.

Well, yeah...but what would you give up to get Young?  Rangers are going to want pitching...Wheeler, Lidge, and Hirsch for Young?

I would take Young over Biggio too.  But that seems like a lot of mental masturbation since we all know that Biggio is going to be the Astros starting secondbaseman next year as he makes his way towards 3000 hits.  You already have Burke carrying Biggio's jock so where is Young going to play.

Not that I don't come up with a lot of ridiculous trade suggestions and kudos for the idea.  But it just doesn't seem like there is a position for Young.

Can he play right field?

Oh, I agree.  We will not get Young unless it is as a FA, because Texas won't let him go.  Owner is just spouting off cause they had higher expectations going into the year.

As for Biggio and starting... I think you are going to see him being moved into more a platoon role with Burke starting next year (and only because they want Biggio to get to 3000 hits).  I think you are already seeing it some this year, as Biggio is getting a lot more time off recently and being replaced by Burke.

He still is the leader of the team and deserves the majority of the starts because of his role on the team, but I think the organization will start to slide him out slowly over the next season, but not so much to make him getting 3000 hard.  THAT will be the main focus of 07.  Well other than trying to win, which they do every year (with varying degrees of success).

Isn't Jermaine Dye going to be a free agent?  Unfortunately, he'll be 33 when next season starts, and he'll probably want a several-year deal, so that might be a risky proposition.

He has an option season next year worth about 5 mil. I'd say that's gonna get picked up.

Didn't know that.  If that's true, the White Sox would be nuts to let him go.

What's the over/under on number of hits biggio gets on the road next year? 10? 20?

You know not of what you speak...

Biggio will start every home game and about a 1/3 of all the road games.

Biggio projects to get another 22 hits (or so) this season.

That'll give him 143 for the season and 2938 for his career (Good for 30th place).  The Astros will do everything in their power to maximize his ability to pick up those last 62 hits at home, up to and including him batting him 1 or 2 whether his talents lend themselves to hitting that high or not.  After the all-star break, I think you see Burke taking more of a role on the road, but biggo will still play all the home games.  And then there's the farewell tour stuff.
