Mike "Moonlight" Grzanich

Just happened to be over at the mlb.com site to see if there were any afternoon games I could listen to on this cusp-of-a-3-day weekend and noticed an interesting Astros-related story.

The link.

Can't say that I remember this guy... but then again I didn't start following the Astros on a daily basis until 1999, which probably makes me the biggest n00b around these parts.

I remember Grzanich very well as he pitched three years for the Jackson Generals.  He had good stuff and struck out a lot of guys, but could be plagued by wildness.  He started and relieved in Jackson before getting promoted to New Orleans.

He now lives in the Jackson, MS, area (he wasn't from here) and I saw his picture in the paper last week as a baseball coach.

$125.00 is a good deal for a game worn jersey. I'm glad he got it a fair market value and didn't get taken to the cleaners just 'cause it was his "game worn" jersey. A lot of profiteering internet entrepreneurs would have hiked up the price had they know he was in the market and how much it was valued.
