Buster Olney's blog is reporting that the Nats put Soriano on waivers and that the Astros were the team that claimed him.  They now have until Monday to work a deal.

It's an Insider blog.

Everyone's favorite dipstick Charlie Palilo was talking about that yesterday on his show...

I hope they cannot work a trade...

Anyone know how high up the waiver pecking order are the Nats?  I was thinking that the Astros couldn't get anything the Nats would want through waivers, but if the Nats have a high pick...

Only the Cubs or Pirates could block a Washington waiver claim.  And the Cubs might not be able to, depending on today's results - they are half a game behind Washington.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Oh.  I thought it was done on last year's standings, not the current.

Only for the first month of the season.

Okay, gotta ask Limey.  Who the hell is that in your avatar?  (And my apologies if that's a picture of you....)

British comedic/character actor Martin Clunes.  He played Richard Burbage in the movie "Shakespeare in Love" and spoke the line that is my new signature.  Couldn't find a shot of him in character, so that's just one of the one's I could find.

Yes, he always looks that daft.
