Had to mention this afternoon ESPN reporting on Jim Edmonds leaving the Cardinals after this year and the Astros were mentioned in the destination speculation.

Ken Rosenthal speculated as much in his latest video notes.

Anyone mention that Edmonds is scheduled for surgery on both his shoulders in the offseason?

I would actually be more interested in the other subject of Rosenthal's musings:  Vernon Wells.

Hypothetical:  so if the organization DID sign him, he could potentially remain an Astro killer were the surgery to prove ineffective and he couldn't play.

Does he even have the range for the MMP centerfield?  I could see that shoulder surgery getting blown the first time he runs up TH in pursuit of a deep fly ball and falls on his right or left one, if not his face.  Not that I'd mind that a little...

Surely this is another in a series of total crock trade rumors.  And, yes, I'll stop calling you surely.

Yes, Tal's Hill is where center fielders go to die.

Little known fact: there are land mines scattered throughout the hill.

Dozens of them, as we were warned, and as we've seen.  They're stuck there and rescue parties can't get up there to bring the bodies down. Grizzly reminders to modern day centerfielders who attempt the ascent.
