What Tejada said
« on: July 30, 2006, 02:09:33 am »
"I don't want to go anywhere to play third if they have nobody else to play third base because it's a position that I've never played," he said. "I want to play shortstop because that's the position that I've always played. I don't want to be [at shortstop] all year and then play third base. It's not an easy position. I don't want to disappoint myself. If I go play for somewhere else, I'll try. . . . If I need to make the move I'll make it [but] I can still play short."

"I'm not trying to leave from here," Tejada said before Baltimore's 13-11 loss to the Chicago White Sox. "They're trying to make me leave. It's the team, not me. I don't have control of that. The manager and I don't know who, they want to take me out of here. But I don't want to push to get out of here because that's not what I'm thinking."

The Astros don't appear to be a good fit but have told the Orioles they are willing to go to "extremes" to obtain Tejada. But the Astros also seem to be pursuing the Washington Nationals' Alfonso Soriano, sources have told The Washington Post.

My vote is not to bring Tejada and his attitude to town.

I'd rather take my chances with Lidge and Ensberg.

Negative on the Ensberg/Lidge thing.

My biggest concern with Tejada is steroids.  I believe he is a juicer and I'm concerned about his future physical/health issues once players are no longer able to skirt MLB testing and he is forced to play 15lbs lighter and juice-free.  Although, there are many facets of Tejada's game where steroids aren't a factor.
Lighten up, Francis.

Did he try to give you a B12 shot too?
"Holy shit, Mozart. Get me off this fucking thing."

Attitude is overrated, IMHO. Soriano had a bad attitude about switching positions, and he's been tearing it up. Conversely, Pete Munro always seemed to have a great attitude.

Not saying we should get Tejada...

I wouldn't overlook the attitude of someone who, if acquired, would have the right to demand a trade at the end of the season.

Absolutely. I think desire to re-sign and ability to demand a trade are huge factors. I solely meant attitude while playing.

Also, with all else being equal, I way prefer a good attitude, so maybe I overstated my point.
