summer baseball reading

I'm looking for a good baseball book to read over the last month of the summer.  I've read Moneyball, Boys of Summer, and a few others that I can't remember off of the top of my head.  I feel like you guys would have some good reccomendations.

Dierker's new book, My Team, is a pretty good read so far.

One book I did not like and do not recommend is "Three Days in August" by Buzz Bissinger.  I overlooked the fact that it was about the Cards because I enjoyed Friday Night Lights, but it was a full on LaGenius and Duncan masturbatory piece.

 Inside Pitch

I liked it, although some of the amazon reviewers didn't.

Often wrong, but never in doubt.

I really like  David Halberstam's Summer of 49.

One of my favorites.

Also, for a good quick read, Michael Shaara's For Love of The Game is an excellent noveletta, despite them making it into a Kevin Costner chick flick.

I would second My Team by Dierker and I guess third? Three Nights.

"How to Rule Your Roost"
By: Brad Herridge

I know this one is not completely baseball related but I feel the need to mention it because it is considered by many to be a modern masterpiece...chapter 5 deals specifically with how to keep your wife/girlfriend from nagging while watching baseball games.

The Catcher in the Rye...I heard Mel Gibson recommends it, but that could just be a conspiracy theory.

I read The Catcher in the Wry by Bob Uecker.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

A Painted House has some baseball stuff in it, but it's about listening to the 3rds on the radio.  Other than that, fuck all happens.  Grisham owes me a few hours back.

Magic Time or Shoeless Joe (the book Field of Dreams was based on) by W.P. Kinsella.  Both are good, although I liked the Magic Time better.

As is the Iowa Baseball Confederacy, also by Kinsella.
