Did my eyes deceive me, or did he just put on a hit and run with his buck seventy-three hitting pitcher?

Also, looking at Ponson, I think I may have uncovered the mystery of Natalie Holloway's disappearance.  Ponson is actually one of Mr. Wu's pigs.

Someone remind me, how do you say "fat belly" in Spanish?
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
Truth isn't easy, the easy part's shit

First rule of playing the Jakes:  nobody but Anaheim Jimmy gets called "cocksucker".

As in, "That cocksucker took longer than Bonds to get out of the box on that homer."

What's gotten into Berkman lately?  In 2 games he's had 3 defensive highlights.

Berkman has always been a good defensive player.  The real question--and perhaps the one you were really asking--is: what has him actually paying attention the last two games?

I think you might want to re-check that buck seventy-three.

He's now at .231 (went 0-2 tonight).

On Wainright's throwing error in the 8th, did anyone else notice Pooholes come running off the bag?  Wainright grabbed the bal, turned and fired to 1st in one motion, but Pooholes had come short and could take the throw.

Classic stuff.

Pujols came off the bag to try to catch the throw.  He did nothing wrong on the play.  It was just a terrible throw by Wainright.

Terrible throw, terrible decision to make the throw.  It would have had to been turn-back-time fast to get the runner.

Pooholes was coming off the bag before Wainright got to the ball.  He started as soon as Lamb's "hit" squibbled, and was almost half-way to the mound when Wainright turned and fired.  Had he been back at the bag, he would've at least saved the ball going down the RF line.

I saw it this way too.  I thought he was holding his arms out as if to say "don't throw it," and once it was thrown, it looked like he actually tried to stop it with his bare hand.

I remember it distinctly, because I thought to myself "Where the fuck's he going?" when I saw Pooholes coming off the bag.  Then, as Wainright picked up the ball, I thought he might throw it away because Pooholes was out of position.

If someone can find a photo or clip (I can't), you'll see that Pooholes is about 10 yards in from 1B when the ball whizzes by him.

I saw him come way off the bag to try to stop the throw, which was to deep second base.

You saw him off the bag when the throw went by but, trust me, he was moving off the bag long before the throw was on its way.  It may not have made any difference due to the poor throw, but he was still in no position to make any play had the throw been on target.

He moved off the bag towards the pitcher with his hands up, which I interpreted as "don't throw, there's no play." The message wasn't recieved.

Yes.  Of course, the catcher should be directing him too, telling him to "EAT IT" if there is no play.

As a catcher, you also have to be very aware of what sort of Mongo you have on the mound that you're directing your comment to.  Some may decide to consume the ball literally... or try at least.

But Ponson was out of the game already and Wainright was in.

I cracked up last night during the game they mentioned something about Ponson and his native Aruba and I thought to myself, "so THAT'S what happened to Natalie Holloway, Ponson ate her" then logged in today to read a similar post by Limey.
