How did Backe look on the bump last night?

I thought he looked pretty good, though he struggled pretty heavy with his location through out the first and a little in the second.  Fast ball topping at 89.  And he can still hit.  A solid, first pitch double off a Ben Sheets fast ball in his first at bat and another in his second.  Sheets looked good too but only thew 65 pitches, leaving in the third after walking the first batter.  Expres won.  Great night at the Dell.

Edit to add the best part:  Backe quoted after the game "I felt good, no pain.  I am pain free."

He was kind of wild, walked a lot of guys and didn't seem like he was hitting his spots.

That said, he pitched his way out of trouble a few times with a little help from the D, and was consistantly hitting 89 on the gun with his heat.

And his breaking stuff looked awesome.

Sheets' breaking stuff looked tremedous.
His fastball, on the other hand, really looked hittable at times. He hit 94 some, but a lot of his heat was clocked around 90-91. He dominated the first time through the lineup except for the screaming gapper that Backe hit.

don't know how anyone hits his curve...unless, of course, he is tipping his pitches. it goes straight down.

Silly coach, that's a 12-6 slider.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.
