Interleague play
« on: July 03, 2006, 01:29:52 pm »
Astros record on Friday, June 16, before the latest round of interleague play: 35-32, 5 games out of first in the NL Central, and 2.5 games out of the WC.

The Astros go 5-10 against the Royals, Twins, White Sox, Tigers, and Rangers. As of today, they are 40-42, still only 5 games out of first in the NL Central, and 4 games out of the WC. That there exemplifies why the Astros still have an excellent chance of doing well this season. I just hope the Astros get on a tear before the 3rdnals and Reds do.

The Reds won't.  The Cards will.  Let's just hope the streaky Astros do too:

19 - 9 thru May 4th
8 - 22 over next 30 games
9 - 2 thru next 11
2 - 9 thru following 11
2 - 0 in July!  I sense Jeckyl has just turned into Hyde.

Taylor Bucholtz is the poster boy for this team.  On or off.
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

This seems to be the theme of the week.

Standings on June 15:

St. Louis 39-26
Cincinnati 37-29, 2.5 games back
Houston 35-32, 5.0 games back
Milwaukee 32-35, 8.0 games back

Standings on June 29:

St. Louis 43-34
Cincinnati 42-36, 1.5 games back
Milwaukee 39-40, 5.0 games back
Houston 38-41, 6.0 games back

It's been a terrible stretch for the Good Guys, but hardly disastrous. We've dropped only one game in the standings to the division leader, two games in the standings to the Wild Card leader. Everyone except Milwaukee got their asses kicked.

Thanks to the Jakes, who seem to be having as much trouble as the Stros did with the mighty Royals. It's amazing that as bad as the Stros have been playing the last 2 months they are still very much in contention to win not only the Wild Card, but the division.

I echo the sentiment. Go Stros!
