Oregon State, NCAA Champions
« on: June 26, 2006, 11:23:50 pm »
Congrats to the Beavers.  Heck of a job coming back after losing their opening game.  Great, great tournament.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

It was a superb game, series, and tourney.  Game 2 was an amazing comeback for them.  It's almost a shame that the winning run came in the way it did (a throwing error to first base on a routine ground ball with 2 outs in the inning and runners on 1st and 2nd).

They had a catcher playing 1B (what led to that, I dunno) and the throw was offline but very, very catchable.  1B had his feet crossed up on the bag & couldn't make a proper stretch.

Bad way to lose a game, regardless.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

I wonder if there's ever been a champion that came back from a double-digit opening loss like that before.

It's impressive. Congrats to the Beavers.

That's impossible.  Northern schools will never have success in baseball until they add a mandatory March start date.

The way I see it, the Owls are still tied in the loss column, so they still have a chance, right?

Congrats to the Beavers.  It was a very fun tournament to watch.

Oregon State's not, but there have been successful northern schools.  University of Minnesota has had some very good teams, and the U of Maine has a terrific program.
