Three games, three grand slams.

And this one with two outs in the bottom 9.

I just assumed that the White Sox hit a grand slam every game.

What? That's not normal? Where's Arky?

Brad Lidge doesn't show up on the Big Stage. He's become a national joke.

So, did he not trust his stuff or did he trust his stuff too much? It's getting confusing.

I think the jakes were onto something with their sign stealin' accusation....at least I hope.

Can we hire William Ligue Jr to Pearl Harbor TADAHITO  IGUCHI before his next AB?

The Jakes are whiny pukes.  Lidge was fucking pitiful tonight.  No other explanation.  He walks Podsednik to bring the tying run to the plate then sets it on a tee.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

even if that were true, it boggles the mind to think that three different Sox hitters could successfully execute each bases-loaded situation into the Worst Thing That Could Happen to the Astros.

I think I might have to get drunk.

That's the most frustrating thing; it's like the other team doesn't even have to try.

that was not The Big Stage, whatever the hell that is. it was the last game of a three game series in June.

You're right.  Lidge mastered the "Big Stage" meltdown last season.  This year, he's working on consistency.

oh right, because nobody was watching a nationally-televised rematch of last year's WS.

According to the ratings, nobody watched the WS. Why they going to watch the "rematch"?  Neither team made a big deal of this.  What we saw is the "typical" way a 9 game streak ends.   The White Sox swept the Cardinals, and scored over 50 runs, the Astros held them down comparatively.  It's JUNE.

That loss would've been disasterous.

Instead, fuck it, i'll say it, it's a call for a winning streak...

same in MA. ESPN called it "special coverage" of NYY/FL. I have basically learned not to trust Fox or ESPN when they say the Astros are going to be on. Unless it's a big #22 event. Which is pretty damn annoying as I don't even have cable, so I have to go to a bar or a friend's house, thinking "cool, I'm going to watch the Astros," and then it's Yankees or Rockies or Royals vs. Pirates, after all who really cares about the defending NL champs?

Even though my cable company said I was going to get the Astros game, I got the Yankees/Marlins, too.  I don't think there has been a nationally televised game here that hasn't featured either the Yankees or the Red Sox.  Joy.

I feel for ya. I'm on the West Coast, though, so decent teams to watch on, say, Fox are hard to come by. It's basically either the Giants or the ((beats head against wall) freakin' Mariners!

I mean you'd think they'd show the WS rematch nationally when they're blacking you out, right?

Hell no. We wouldn't want to be, oh, I dunno, *FAIR* or anything, would we?

Throw yesterday's game in there and it really pisses me off. See, I basically come into most games (read: those during the week) about an hour and a half to two hours in because, well, I'm in school until almost 6pm here. Really ticks me off when both weekend games get blacked out nationally because that's just one fewer game I get to watch live.

What annoys me more than anything else is that the NY game was on the local channel as well.  I don't know anyone in NY who watches a game on ESPN when they can watch the game on the regular local tv channel.  So why did ESPN feel the need to show the NY game in NY when they must have known that they would get a crappy rating here?  They probably would have gotten more viewers if they showed an alternative to the Yankees game.

At the end of the day, I "watched" the game on CBSSportline while Deadwood and Entourage were on the tube.

Not sure about NY, but in Boston they switched to the Astros after the Yankees' game.

Here in Dallas, big FOX chose to show BoSox at Phillies on Saturday instead of Astros. Doesn't make any sense to me.

That one really doesn't make any sense. It could reasonably be argued that they don't show them up here because there isn't much of a fanbase for our boys here.

But Dallas? Come *ON*! It's not like the Strangers have been that good historically. Or even good at all!

We got both Saturday's and Sunday's Astros games here in Michigan. It was the first time since I moved here 4 years ago that the local Fox affiliate chose to show the Astros on their "game of the week". If they had been playing anyone other than the White Sox, though, I doubt I would have gotten the game. I listened to the game last night on XM with my dad who is visiting from Houston. We were both thoroughly disgusted with both Saturday and Sunday's games.

excuse me? what are you trying to say?

ETA: I have no idea what Purpura and Garner have to do with my disgust. Why would I notify them? They can't locate Lidge's slider. They can't force Qualls to make them work for it. They can't get MoBerg and other hitters to break out of their funks.

I'm not second-guessing Purp or Garner. I have no suggestions for improvement. I'm just disgusted. It's a gutteral, emotional reaction, and there's nothing wrong with that. The Astros' collective performance this weekend disgusted me. End of story.

OK, now that this weekend's over, I can be an Astros fan again. Sorry, flame away, but my dad grew up 3 blocks from Comiskey. No choice.

That would have been a horrible loss for the Astros, and I'm glad they pulled out one, but you have to hand it to the White Sox, they're on a huge roll right now, and Gooch's homer was quite a thrill. Memo to Morgan and Miller, the Sox manager's name isn't "Ozzie Smith"!!

Now the Astros have to build on that win and do what no NL Central team has done this season - beat the stinkin' Tigers!!!

I'm getting sick of looking at Cincy in front of the Astros in the standings.

Nope, it was the biggest Irish neighborhood in the city, until the late 60s/early 70s.

It still is ghetto-ish in some spots, but the Bridgeport neighborhood is undergoing heavy gentrification, and getting way too upscale for my taste.

I wonder if all those people buying the high-priced condos know that the public housing isn't too far away.
