How about keeping Berkman out of the outfield?

I think if your #1 hitter has had a tight hammy all season by his own admission, you keep him on first base.   If it means Preston or Lamb has to play a different position, so be it.

Berkman's said (at the time of his layoff) that it hurt when twisting and stretching at 1B.  He may be better off in the outfield.

MLB.com Gameday is reporting an injured knee.  Knee or hammy, what's the truth?

He stayed on the bases after he hurt it, so it wasn't something requiring immediate attention.  But after recovering from an injury as serious as an ACL tear, you'd think they'd treat him with kid gloves.  Hopefully he's not out for too long--Berkman is roughly 1/2 of our offense.

Yeah, that's incredibly stupid if he's going to play any oufield at all limit it to left field in Houston. Not only for his hamstrings sake but for the damn sake of team defense because he's butchering balls on a daily basis in the outfield.
Make a runnnnnnnn!!!!

Yahoo Game Channel says "...SORE RIGHT KNEE."  We'll see.  I'm not watching or listening to the game so I'm imagining one of the spirals has become misaligned and wedged up a Kit Kat bar.  Possibly an Alpine White.

Yeah since Lamb has heated up Lance has 3 or so starts in right and he's killed us with the glove each time.

Hardly "daily" but, the Astros are 2-1 with Berkman in the outfield, once in left v. the Dodgers and the 2 games against the Rangers.  You were traumatized by all the singles that dropped in front in the 6-0 loss.

You disagree with Berkman playing the OF, so it's stupid?

Milo said something similar this morning, but his problem was that Berkman was in right, not left, where Milo thinks he's more comfortable.  Doesn't matter.  Knee didn't get hurt in the outfield, got hurt in a cover two defense.  Also, there's this "On Wednesday, Berkman, playing first base, stretched, picked a throw from Adam Everett out of the dirt and felt a twinge in his knee. On Thursday, he irritated the area again when he took a swing during his second of two plate appearances, ...."
