Wow! That sucks. I thought he was a dick for what he did after he left the Astros, and a crap player for what he did (mostly) when with the Astros, but I never expected to see this kind of shit happen.

Though I was never a Bell fan, actually quite the contrary, he did gain a little respect when Dirker went down in the dugout, he was the first one there to help. I also feel somewhat sorry for people that get caught by the "monkey".

I was there as well. I was sitting in the upper tank so I did not know what exactly happened. Very weird situation indeed.

We were right behind the visiting dug out, so the whole thing unfolded right in front of us. DB was actually sitting on top of Dierker trying to resrtrain him, along with the rest of the coaching staff. He helped the medics get him into the ambulance and after the group prayer, quickly led the team out of the dug out and probably to the hospital.

Yep I saw it all, I just had to wait until I got home to see the replay. Though I did not care for Bell as a ballplayer, I did gain respect for him as a person (not that that matters to anyone).

And too add a topical side note. In Dierkers first game back after surgery, Bell, who was dropped to the six hole, hit the go ahead 2 run single, bringing the Astros back from a 6-0 deficit. Revert Miller picked up the win.

I do believe DB was arrested when he played for San Diego for solicitation of prostitution.

Can someone verify this?
