Maybe this is significant?
« on: April 20, 2006, 01:24:12 pm »
OK, so we got moved into a room with a window for this audit, and I'm plugging away here, when I hear some quiet "bang" sounds against the window, like someome throwing dirtclods. I look over, and nothing. Another couple "bangs" and this time something catches my peripherall vision... a form bouncing up out of the bushes by the window, against the glass, falling down.

My first thought was "some stupid cat outside is trying to jump through the window."

A couple minutes later, and another bang. I look over quickly and see... a cardinal flit up out of the bushes and into the tree, then fly away.

Haha. A Cardinal banging its head against the wall in the Busches here. Maybe it's a sign of things to come?

LOL, as I reach to click the "Continue" button and post, the dumb bird is back. i think it's trying to "land" on the horizontal miniblinds which are inside, of course.

I always thought it was admirable (if a little misguided) that you demonstrated great restraint when it came to alcohol.

So I'm surprised to realize that you're on crystal meth.  Good luck with that.

Hey, whatever gets ya through busy season... The banger is back. This is amusing. I can see the smudge marks where it's been hitting the window. I like to think that's a little feathered Anaheim Jimmy, trying to catch a flyball, sorta like that splatted version of Andruw Jones someone has as their avatar here.

Yes, but I figured it was about to come up any minute.

I worked at a place where the pigeons would commit suicide right outside our break room window.  The whole building was glass and our break room faced the west, about at the same eye level as the horizon.  The sun settling into the western horizon would cause a serious glare off that window area.  Seems the birds actually thought they were flying towards the hills on the west side of Austin.  Nope, they were headed due east right against window panes that were quaranteed to resist hurricane gale force winds.

It happened too much to pay attention to the ritual after awhile, but it was always a blast to hear the screams of disqust from new employees when they experience the hari kari for the first or second time.

Or if you see some Pirates Brewing beer in the cafeteria...I guess they'd have to be wearing Red (or severely bleeding) for the surreal picture to be complete.
How can you ask me a question like that?  Do you ask The Beatles that??
