knws broadcasts on C Band/MPEG
« on: April 17, 2006, 09:47:43 pm »
Does anyone out there know if KNWS uses a C BAND or MPEG feed for their broadcasts? I am in San Antonio, and miss a couple of games each year when certain events occur and screw up the norm. Four or five years ago, I could catch every Astro KNWS broadcast on Satellite G3. The next year, it was G4. For the last few years, Time-Warner Cable in SA, exhibiting profound benevolence, has shown some of these "odd" games on a spare channel that they used for
self promotion. Each year is different. But as many of you know, it is a bummer to miss a game that you KNOW is out there somewhere. I have the satellite equipment to find what I want, but prospecting/surfing for an obscure feed can be very time consuming and annoying. Anyone out there familiar with these broadcasts?

I visit San Antonio almost every other weekend and usually catch KNWS games on Channel 4 (WB).  Unless they'd rather show Rangers games.
How can you ask me a question like that?  Do you ask The Beatles that??

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. The channel you mentioned, KCWX (brand new call letters), is the channel upon which 90% of the KNWS broadcasts may be found. I am, however, speaking of the 3 to 5 games a year which DO NOT show up on a conventional channel in San Antonio, be it cable or any of the DirecTV FOXSW feeds. I was hoping that a generous soul at KNWS,possibly a member of the OW nation, might read this, know something about satellite transmissions, and perhaps spill the beans as to where their feeds might be found - especially if they happen to be C Band or MPEG free-to-air transmissions. As it turns out, the game I was seeking on 4/17, was actually aired on KCWX - it was just not mentioned in any of the local TV listings or DirecTV guide. In fact, I found it minutes after I fired off my inquiry. From that perspective, it was a drag that my first attempted shot at a post on this site became a misfire, much like a punter booming a kick into the hind quarters of his blocker. But the answer to my original question, should anyone have it, will definitely be useful in the future....but not as useful as a marginally-good woman.
