Death, Taxes, and...

...Brad Lidge giving up the go-ahead run when he enters a tie game.  Maybe he's got a mental block or something and his switch only flips on in save situations.  Thoughts?

There is another type of slider we've been neglecting entirely: the one that hovers over the middle of the plate.

Richard Justice, not a typical go to guy, has this one pegged,

"Even after 238 big-league appearances, even after establishing himself as one of baseball's best closers, Lidge remains a work in progress. He was among baseball's best closers last season before a pair of postseason defeats.

Some have been quick to look for a larger meaning. Like permanent psychological scarring. There's a textbook description for this kind of analysis: stupid."

Article says he's blaming his windup and will work permanently from the stretch.

he should have listened to Milo's advice concerning Ward: "be careful with this guy. he can hurt you."

I think milo had a flashback and was talking to Hank Aaron after #715 when those 2 dudes were running with him.

Is that the 12-6 kind?

That's the problem.  He's throwing one of those 12-6 sliders, the ball knows that's impossible, so it just hangs there trying to grasp quantum physics.

No.  This type is distinct from the 12-6 variety, and, after it's hit, looks something like  this.

Just you wait until he adds the 9-3 screwball.

Nah.  I''m waiting for the 1-7-2-6-11 curve myself.  Kinda like the bullet that assasinated Kennedy.

You know, the bullet that assassinated Kennedy with the magic Oswald.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Whoa.  Are you telling me that a magic cartoon octopus voiced by Fred "Wonder Years" Savage killed Kennedy with a dancing bullet?
