The Link

Did anybody notice the guy (Don Houston) that reviewed the Astros DVD seems to be that sites "porn" reviewer as well?  The  Link  to his bio page.  I find that amusing for some reason.

I wonder if he thought the Astros DVD's audio was better than "Assault That Ass #8"?

edited to add:  I'm waiting on Amazon to ship mine.  (Astros DVD, not "Assault That Ass #8")

funniest line. ever.

"As one of the more prolific porn reviewers online, Don prefers technical quality over dark, shadowy movies in almost all cases."

The DVD apparently does not include the dinger Biggio hit off of Wagner.  How do you make a story about the highlights of the Astros' season without including that?  When I asked the MLB guy in charge of marketing the thing, he was completely unaware of it.

Look, heaven knows I'm not opposed to a good skin flick, but how the hell do you make a living reviewing "Euro Dominsation 6: Take That Bitch!"?
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I ACTUALLY read this entire post and thought "seriously, how COULD you make Assault That Ass 8 without the dinger off Wagner," then I figured out what you meant.

I think that Don has reviewed more than 3000 porn films, although I'm not sure that you really get a sense for a porn film from the first five minutes.

I'm reminded of Kevin Nealon's porn reviews from SNL Weekend Update:

"At first, I was interested.  Interested... very interested... VERY interested!... but then I lost interest."

Hell no.  That series went to crap after #3.

Thank you CJM.  Thank you.  This has brightened my day and will keep me chuckling for the rest of the week.  Heaven knows we needed a good laugh after last night's game.

My DVD arrived yesterday, and it does include Biggio's home run against Wagner.  It's no Silver Odyssey, but it's a nice way to relive last year's run to the Pennant.

I think so.  At $13 it's cheaper than most DVDs, and it's one that you'd probably watch several times.  It does a nice job recapping our terrible start, documenting our push to get back to .500 before the break, then showing how we subsequently got our asses handed to us in St. Louis, only to rebound in July and go on to win the Wild Card.  I thought the coverage of the late-season Philadelphia series was appropriate.  Really, my only beef is that I wish it had gone into more detail on the playoff series with Atlanta and St.Louis, but overall I'm glad I have it.

I should add that I only got through the first two games of the World Series before I had to turn the thing off in disgust.

$13?? Where did you find it for that price? Astros.com has it priced at $20.

I think at the bottom of that review there are several links to buy it online...the lowest price was under $12...don't know about shipping costs, though.

So I innocently stroll over to Amazon.com to buy the DVD. I add it to my shopping cart, and notice the section titled "people who bought this also bought these..." I glance over the usual suspects, the book by Jose De Juan De Jesus De Ortiz, the Longhorns championship DVD, and at the bottom of the list is the unrated release of a movie titled "Where the Truth Lies." Interested, I click on the title for more information. What immediately catches my eye is the keyword searches most used to find this movie are "female full frontal nudity", "naked dead woman" "three way lesbian scene" and "kevin bacon." Now, why Astros fans are consistently buying that, I have no idea. Needless to say, I immediately put it at the top of my netflix queue.
"Holy shit, Mozart. Get me off this fucking thing."

Amazon must be tracking Foghorn's recent purchases.

Although I'm sure he'd never buy Ortiz's book.
