Ring Ceremony Tonight
« on: April 04, 2006, 01:22:27 pm »
Anyone going?  Well, I cannot make it for reasons beyond my control, but will be forever indebted to the good soul that procures me one of those replica rings.  I know they're probably cheesy, but gosh darnit, I want one anyway!

I beg of thee, BRING ME THE BLING!

They'll probably be up on ebay tomorrow. I can't imagine anything cheesier than a plastic replica NL Championship ring, and have absolutely no idea what I would do with one, but I kind of want one too.

If they were actually made of cheese, they might be worth having.

It's all part of the game.....

I thought the same thing.  They've gotta be plastic or, at the very best, aluminum or some other really cheap metal.

We determined, through the power of beer, that the rings will somehow feature the words "Gallery" and "Furniture" prominently.

Neat.

If I recall correctly, using the very same definitive methodology, we determined that HH had come up with possibly the single most distinctive piece of  2005 playoff memorabilia...

A "2005 Astros Playoffs Kidney Stone?"

Actually it was an official 2005 commemorative pretzel... Took HH nigh on 3 innings to gnaw it into submission...

A bit like watching a terrier at work on one of those oversized rawhide bones...

You can see a picture of one here:  The Link

Can't tell what it's made of though.  Looks like metal, but maybe not.  You get a sweet bag to carry it in too!  Just like at Tiffany & Co.!

The replica Stanley Cup rings that the Lightning gave away were pewter. They were sponsored by a company that makes replica rings for people with too much money.

So....how do they look?  Anybody sporting one at work today?  Popping underclassmen on the head with them?

They are metal of some type (am not a metalologist).  Go to ebay for a picture and yes they do have Gallery Furniture on them.

I actually Googled that work to see if anyone had used it before me.  Turns out they had.

I could google "nucular" and see it's been used to shape world policy, but that doesn't make it a real word.

(BTW, I'm just breakin' your balls here, you know that, right?)

Meanwhile, "truthiness" and "bouncebackability" are now recognised words.
