Stop the presses

It appears that someone has managed to put together a reasonable, well-thought out preview of the 2006 Astros in a major media outlet:

 Athlon Sports
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I follow it until here:

Quote:

Houston stayed status quo in the offseason, which may not be good enough to garner a third straight wild-card spot behind runaway division favorite St. Louis.

A) They didn't stay status quo; they added the bat virtually everyone said they need in 2005.

B) Why are the Cardinals the runaway division favorites again?

B)Answer: They have the smartest man in the world managing the team (a vegetarian, too), real pretty uniforms, and gosh darn it, they just deserve it due to their rich baseball heritage.  Don't question something like this.

Don't forget the BFiB. And a new (half complete) stadium.
Oye. Vamos, vamos.

The BFiB must guarantee an extra ten wins a year.

Because they won the division easily last year (postseason aside) without the best 3b in the NL?  Because losing Matt Morris isn't nearly the same as losing Roger Clemens?

They're still to be taken very seriously.

I am more than happy to see the 3rds installed as division locks again.  It lets the 'Stros creep in under the radar.

I'd be more pissed as a Brewer fan being constantly shackled with the Cubs and Reds, when they are clearly a better club then both of those clown-fests.

I'm inclinded to agree.  With the exception of last year, I think it's been a decade since the NL Central division "favorites" actually won.
