Seems odd when Reliant Stadium has already proven a successful soccer venue - unless it clashes with the Rodeo...

Proposed pitch dimensions are pretty standard.  A square peg does fit in a round hole if the hole is big enough.  A wider pitch would encourage more open play, however.

FYI, CONCACAF if is the accumulation of the governing soccer  federations in North and Central America plus the Caribbean (and a couple of northern South American countries).  This competition is between the Champions of each of the member countries.  It quite a big deal in soccer terms.  The winner will go on to face the winners of similar competitions in the other regional grouops to determine the World club champions.
