Why is that hype?
"I think not having the estate tax recognizes the people that are investing... as opposed to those that are just spending every darn penny they have, whether it’s on booze or women or movies.”  Charles Grassley

I was referring to Clemens as the "hype machine", not necessarily the story.

However, all those teams should carry on as if he's retired; their fans on the otherhand, begin to clamour.

Because his agents have said that until Roger decides to play in 2006, there's nothing to discuss.  Sadly for Roger and his ego, that means no one is discussing him.  So he lets a little statement loose to get the focus back on him.

But he still hasn't decided to play in 2006, so there's nothing to discuss.

Like when the Astros asked him the same thing and Hendricks said 'If you need an answer, you should presume he's not playing,'.

Maybe he can sign with the Rangers and toss 3 no-hitters... or 8... or 1.
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
Truth isn't easy, the easy part's shit

Here's how Clemens describes these teams interest,

"They have all paid their respects, but at the same time, we're not talking to any of them," Clemens said.

I have to admit that's an odd choice of words, even for an egomaniac like Clemens. For most of the time, I have thought that Clemens's ego was apparent to everyone but Roger himself. Now, "Paid their respects"? That tells me that he knows how people see him (i.e. as an egomaniac), and he is purposely feeding it, for some unknown reason.
