have already mailed it in. If I may mock McCarver "You gotta win 4 games Joe to win a world series". If there is anything worse than losing a world series, it's having to listen to tim mccarver while you do it.

I couldn't take it after two innings.  I switched to the ESPN radio feed even though it was 2 seconds ahead.  Hearing Jon Miller after Joe and Tim was bliss, dare I say even better than that first sip of beer I had tonight.  Hell...even Morgan wasn't that annoying.  I think he's tamer on the radio.

Hey...if the Red Sox could do it in the ALCS, then there's no reason we can't do it in the WS, especially if Backe can get us a win tomorrow night.  Clemens, Pettite and Oswalt to close it out...it can still happen.

I'm hoping McCarver will manage to effusively praise someone's bat control when they top one foul, then criticize their lack of bat control when they strike out moments later. Because that was some spectacularly random pinwheeling, and I'd like to experience it a couple more times to make sure I heard him correctly.

There were so many choice Fox moments last night, but my very favorite one was when they flipped up a "game summary" around the 6th or so that included the point that only 1 team in postseason history has come back from an 0-3 deficit. Which was super, because I had missed the part in the 3rd inning where the Astros apparently went down 0-3 in the series, maybe when I got up to go piss. Their phenonmenal ability to generate storylines in anticipation of things that may or may not happen from one at-bat to the next is not distracting. At all. Just a terrific job by Fox. Hey lookie! Is that Bernie Mac over there? Star of the wildly popular Fox comedy The Bernie Mac Show? Wait, what was I talking about?

The dumbest comment I heard all last night was Jeff Brantley on SportsCenter after the game, who claimed that Blum must have been thinking about driving one over the short porch in LF, but then hit his HR to "one of the deepest parts of the park."

No surprise there.  Brantley is a complete moron.  He was talking about Brad Lidge on ESPN radio before last night's game saying that the reason he gave up HRs to Podsednik and Pujols is that closers don't perform well when the score is tied or in non-save situations.  Hmmmm... I had forgotten that the score was tied for the Pujols jack.  Must be my Astros bias causing me to remember that the Astros had a two-run lead and were one out from the Series.

The dumbest comment BY FAR of the night was in the late innings, Lane, Ausmus, Everett due up.  Qualls was the pitcher (he had already put in 2 innings).  One of the announcers, I think McCarver, said that the Astros schemed to be retired 1 2 3 so that Qualls could still be the pitcher.  They had a grand design to go down in order.  So you see, Everett's K there was part of the Master Plan.

But what if someone had accidentally reached base by hitting it into the seats beyond the outfield wall? By my understanding, the Astros would have been awarded a run, the game would be called, and Qualls would have been prevented from pitching any further. The horror! Thank the maker that the plan was executed to perfection, because that is not the time to be making mental errors like inadvertently winning.

I heard that Brantley theory about Lidge and the tie-games being the reason he wasn't successful. Added that he probably didn't have the same adrenalin going as he would with a lead. Pardon me...it's the fucking World Series for Chrissakes. He would have to be dead not to have an adrenalin rush. But then Brantley went on to explain why the hamstring tear may be good for Clemens. Because he gets too amped up and this may help him stay calmer. So, it's all about controlling your adrenalin. I guess Roy couldn't get up for the Sox like he did for the Cards, either.

Both myself and the missus just about blasted into orbit when we heard that one. Just one more sign of the extent to which Fox is intellectually void, professionally challenged, and untiring in their quest to remain the biggest joke in network television.
