There's a line outside the MMPUS.  The roof is open.

Couldn't they have rented that eagle guy again? What about dressing Alkie up i a batman suit?

Could you tell them that the roof needs to be closed so the bees don't get away?

Actually, I don't care about the roof....unless the Astros lose. Really, the only big reason for the roof closed was for the fans, IMO. I doubt it makes a huge difference to the players, but it seemed like a good will gesture to the fans, like it was somehow involving them in the game.

Of course, I will be in my living room tonight....wiht the roof closed, if it matters.

Nah, there's no conspiracy so that the Black Sox can be turned back into the White Sox.. none at all...

Wonder if Clemens' mother had anything to say about this.

With all the comments by players such as Ausmus and Oswalt and MoBerg, it is obvious that THEY feel having the roof shut gives them a home field advantage.

This is utter bullshit on the part of MLB and Sielig should be hogtied.  What a lidgin' bastard.  The Astros have to go play in cold/rainy ass Chicago, but can't enjoy what they consider home field advantage here?  BULLSHIT.

I know that they are pros, and they can "shut out the noise" and all that shit, but comments made by players as well as Garner have made me think that the noise is indeed a factor.

If the Astros think that they are winning games because of beards or goatees or because the lidging roof is open, then they are.  Player routines and rituals are hard to break.

Thank God Roy is on the mound today.  That is the only consolation to this ass job that we are recieving.  MLB should at least give us the common courtesy of a reach around.

What an ass. Funny, he's reeeeeal close with Jerry Reinsdorf. They go way back.

I don't care about open/closed as much as it bothers me what an overbearing ass Selig is. Talk about changing the rules right in the middle of the game.

I have just sent the following e-mail to MLB, through the "Fan Feedback" portal on MLB.com:

Quote:

I don't know if this is the correct avenue to complain about this, but MLB's decision to force the Astros to have the roof of MMP open for the World Series is an egregious interference with the Astros' home field advantage.  And I thought it couldn't get worse than having the All-Star Game decide who gets to start the series at home!!!

MLB ruled on the retractable roof when the park was built, and in that ruling it gave the team the option to have it open or closed at its discretion.  Now you are changing the rules to the detriment of the Astros.  But perhaps more importantly to MLB, you are slapping the faces of the loyal Houton fans who have waited 44 years for this opportunity.  We love our quirky park and its roof, and we love that its perhaps the loudest park in the league with the roof closed.  You have changed the rules for this one series, and you have told all the fans in Houston that we don't matter.

This is a terrible, terrible decision, and that's not just an Astros' fan view.  Take a look at the media outlets on the net and the TV/Radio - the very large concensus is that MLB should not do this.

I hold MLB in utter contempt for this action.

Thanks Limey.  No way could I send an email to MLB right now without profanity.  It's taking all I can muster right now in this post.

I don't know.  I've got a bad feeling about this.  I know that theoretically, it don't mean shit, but I've got a bad feeling about the game knowing that MLB is out to gorvel the collective pale's hoses.

This is such bullshit.

You have no idea how much I wanted to.  But I felt it was more important to give them a cogent take-down on their hypocrisy.  They've just told us all to go fuck ourselves, and they needed to know that.

I gave them an e-mail address to write back to.  I would love to get into a dialogue with them about this.

Forgotten in all of this is that there was no "home field advantage" and the roof was most definitely open when Oswalt punked the Co-ards in games 2 and 6.

Thank you for your interest in faclities management.  This is an automated response.  Please do not reply.

I hope Selig drags his pathetic rug onto the field before the game.  The crowd will show him how loud it can be, roof open or closed.

For the pre game introductions, I dont think there's going to be a fine distinction between the White Sox players, coaches, the Chicago fans, the umps, or Selig.

I am really so angry about all of this.  Not so much that i care if the roof is open or not, but the fact that people think that they can do whatever they want to the astros.  Does this happen to Steinbrenner and the Yankees? no.  Theo and the sox? no.  Jerry and the sox?  fuck this.  fuck this.

Clearly, if selig is saying keep the roof open, it means that it is the WRONG decision.

I honestly believe they love the loud crowd noise, but at the same time, the roof open part is just to help feed the fans. They seem to be smart enough to enjoy the fan base and get them involved, but really, it doesn't bother them one bit.

Again, just my opinion. Selig and MLB are still toads, and I agree with the rest of what you said.
