Games 3-5?
« on: October 24, 2005, 01:26:59 am »
Okay time to move on... How does stack up for games 3-5? We have Roy O going game 3 which I feel very confident about...He is an absolute no bullshit kind of guy and I can't think of anyone I'd rather have pitching Tuesday. Then Backe on Wednesday and then what's the game plan for Thursday? Will it be Clemens? That's what I'm worried about. I just don't know what will be able to get out of a possible Wandy start. His control is really nerveracking. I know he didn't let any of the walks hurt him but he had 5 of them in game 1! Thoughts...
Make a runnnnnnnn!!!!

i feel great about oswalt..and pretty good about backe..but beyond that, i dont know..if we did have to start wandy, i would have someone going in the bullpen at the absolute first sign of trouble..i think we all know if clemens doesnt make that start, the majority of the bullpen, if not all of it will be used..im trying to have the mindset that roger will be ready to go by game 5

ehhh..i dont know about that..depends on the score..if we're up by a few, i think its important to get wheeler, qualls, and yes, lidge back in there so they can climb back on the horse they were just thrown off of

Jeez. What were you like after Game 7 of the NLCS last year.

Scratch that. I don't want to know.

Look. The goal was to split. The 'stros didn't, but they lost two very winnable games. Take care of business at home, as has happened all season, and get those same opportunities back in Chicago. I like those odds.

Chin up...Tonight was a heartbreaker, but we have Roy-O the Savior on the mound for Game 3.  He has no heart to be broken--he's a methodical, exacting pitching machine.  He has no emotions, he has no pity.  And there's no one I'd rather have on our side more.

These have been great games.  Sure, they didn't go our way, but think about it--this is the World Series!  My deepest concern is how Lidge will handle this--I'm sure he'll be fine, but 2 HRs in his last 2 outings can't be good for the ol' confidence meter.  But he helped get us here, and he'll be ready to be the hero again before it's all over.
