Check it out on astros.com.

They're leaning toward it.

Makes ZERO sense to me.

So the people at home can feel what a wonderful night it is in Houston?

It's not bad enough that FOX gets to tell MLB the postseason schedules?

I don't know if you're in Houston already, but it was damn windy and cold tonight. Not Chicago, 45 and pissing rain cold, but chilly for Houston.

Hurricane David you don't have to be such a asshole but they never open the roof and with it being low 60's tonight and windy on top of that the Astros don't make the choice on if the roof is open or not it's MLB for the World Series. & MLB wants a perfect enviroment.

I'll be worng, I am sure, but I go with roof closed. The Astros seem to like it. It gives FOX an annoying talking point. The weather part of the game is going to be as even as it can possibly be.

Roof closed.
It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of 'em was one kinda sombitch or another.

yeah, it's obvious they want a perfect environment after letting the game go on for 7 innings of pouring rain last night.

What's wrong with the roof being open if it's a nice night?  You want more noise?  Yell louder.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I'm with you HH.  Yes, it's loud with the roof closed, but damn, has there been a sellout game there with it open recently?  It's the freaking World Series!  It's going to be loud regardless!  And I still don't know how "loudness" helps one team more than the other in baseball anyway.  Football yes, baseball no.

And that whole issue with moisture/gripping/etc. shouldn't be an issue either, I wouldn't think.  There's no humidity out there now.

Anybody to pull up the team's record for roof open vs. closed?     The team has stated they like it better open and the record reflects that.  Basically MLB should stay the fuck out of this since we had to play in 40 degree freaking rain last night.  Here is Ensberg on coming back home.
 web page
"We're so tough at home, it's unbelievable," Ensberg said. "I can't wait until we get in front of our fans, because the sound of our crowd at home is unlike anything I've ever heard in my life. It's a big distraction. It is huge."

Team is 15-11 with the roof open.  MUCH better record with it closed.

More's the point, they're 9-2 at home with the roof closed in the playoffs for the last two years.

Not to mention the best pitcher of all time could be trying to pitch game 5 with a bad hamstring in his home park.    I'll take it as warm as possible please.   Looking at weather.com it appears high 50's for most of the game.   Screw that.

.685 this year in games where the roof was closed at the beginning of the game (including 2-0 in games where it was opened).

.577 this year in games where the roof was open.
