Stark continues his Astro Love-Fest
« on: October 21, 2005, 12:09:36 pm »
Sorry if it's been posted already, but here's Jayson Stark waxing sentimental about Bagwell. I believe this is the 20th Astro-favorable piece he's written in the last 3 weeks.

I really really really really really hate Dayn Perry.

The Link

Misinformed, poorly written, fudges statistics.  Oh, and he picked the Astros 5th behind Milwaukee before Spring Training.
How can you ask me a question like that?  Do you ask The Beatles that??

I just finished ready that before you posted it.

Don't waste your time. I don't think he has watched baseball in a while.

Can't win on the road?  They're 3-2 on the road this post season.  What a tool.

This is classic fucking stupid, barzilla stupid.

* Of his 5 reasons the Astros will lose, one is because the Sox have a lot of RH hitters in their line up (Cards/rest of NL had none, I guess) ergo they will fare well at MMP, another is because the Astros can't win on the road, yet he picks the Sox to win in 7?!

* Also, he could be seperated at birth with John Travolta and/or Andy Pettitte.

He looked at the road record...that was the extent of his analysis.

He didn't see that the Astros had a pretty good road record after everyone recovered from the swine flu.

Had that been written about another player on another team, I probably would have rolled my eyes and stopped reading 1/3 through it. Because I'm so keenly aware of Bagwell's relationship with the team and the city and his successes and struggles through the years, however, it was very touching. Bagwell has been my favorite Astro since his rookie season. I am incredibly proud that he represents my favorite team and its city.

It was a nice article.

My stupid imagination had Bagwell going to Drayton and repeating the same "I'll pay my own way" statement, Drayton taking him up on it and Barry Axelrod having an coniption fit.

Dayn Perry is a Cardinals honk who writes worthless articles over at Baseball prospectus and doesn't reply to emails that call him out on his faulty logic.

I called him out twice last year and he never repsonded while everyone else at BP has responded at a near 100% clip whenever I email them.

Perry is a chode, and while he like to tout the WHiteSox HR prowess and like to reference MMPUS's HR-inflation to RHB, he never mentions that USCF is a bigger HR park than even Coors Field according to the exact same data shit-for-brains uses in his article for 2004, and just barely behind them for 2002-2004.
You see pal, that's who I am, and you're nothing. Nice guy, I don't give a shit. Good father, fuck you. Go home and play with your kids. You wanna work here, close. You think this is abuse? You think this is abuse, you cocksucker? You can't take this, how can you take the abuse you get on a sit?
