Animal sacrifice part of Guillen's religion
October 20, 2005

There are any number of safe and careful places Ozzie Guillen could have gone with this answer when asked during spring training. ...

"I've got a real weird religion," Guillen said.
Weird?
"Santeria," he said.

You kill animals, Ozzie?
"Back in my country, yes, I do," Guillen said.

He realized how this sounded and blurted, unsolicited, just in case you didn't like it:

"Too bad."

You kill with your own hands?
"I pay people to do it," Guillen said.
What kind of animals?
"Depends on what you need," he said.

What's wrong with killing aminmals?  I plan to throw a whole heap of dead animal on the pit Saturday afternoon.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I would pay a lot of money for an hour's worth of video of Guillen and Jose Lima in the same room.

I liked the "too bad" part.

[obligatory]

I don't practice Santeria
I ain't got no crystal ball
Well I had a million dollars but I, I'd spend it all
If I could find that heina and that sancho that she'd found
Well I'd pop a cap in sancho and I'd slap her down
What I really wanna know (my baby)
What I really wanna say, I can't define
Well it's love that I neeeeeed
My soul will have to wait till I get back
Find a heina of my own
Daddy's gonna love one and all
I feel the break, feel the break, feel the break
And I gotta live it out
Oh yeah un-huh
Well I swear that I, what I really wanna know (my baby)
What I really wanna say, I can't define
Got love! Make it go
My soul will have to...
What I really wanna say (my baby)
What I really wanna say, is I've got mine
And I'll make it
Yes, I'm going up
Tell sanchito that if he knows what is good for him
He best go run and hide
Daddy's got a new .45
And I won't think twice
To stick that barrel straight down sancho's throat
Believe me when I say that I got something for his punk-ass
What I really wanna know (my baby)
What I really wanna say, is there's just one way back
And I'll make it
My soul will have to wait

What two people would you add to that list to have the perfect table for five dinner?

Barkley?
Bill Lee?
Milo?
Manny being Manny?

Please advise.

Carl C4 Everett

Milton "Fuck your boardgame" Bradley

and

Sweet Lou.

Together, the most insane and quick-tempered group of people humanly possible.

Ozzie is completely, certifiably insane already.

I have a feeling he is going to snap at some point in the series.

edit: Oh, and C4 would be the host of the whole thing, providing topics to talk about, then explaining why they should be blown up/aren't true.

First we find out Ozzie is a Hugo Chavez admirer and now know that he lights a candle to Jobu ("You no help me now...I say, fuck you Jobu. I do it myself.") What next, a shot of the White Sox dugout with headcovers on the bats("hats for bats")?

I think Jeff Kent needs to be involved with that group somehow.

"`I would say I was honored,'' Guillen recalled about his appearance a week ago Sunday on Chavez's national radio show. ``Not too many people like the president. I do. My mom will kill me, but it's an honor to talk to the president.'"

Only later, when called on it, did Ozzie clarify that it was "like the man, but not his policies" kinda thing. Oooookaaay.

Guillen and Lima separated at birth.
News that is sufficiently bad somehow carries its own guarantee of truth.  Only good reports need confirmation.

That's what I saw from Guillen, yeah. 'I like him, but not his ideas.' That sort of thing. Chavez is obviously well pleased with the Sox's success. It kind of reminds me of an Astros game down here in Miami that I attended a year or two ago. There was a Venezuelan guy sitting behind me and as far as he was concerned each and every Astros player was from Venezuela. I mean, seriously, he was claiming everyone. I normally don't engage with people saying unbelievable things around me (for example, this year, again in Miami, two geniuses behind me were wondering why that guy who used to play first base, what's his name? I don't remember, oh, I think, what? Bagwell? Yeah! Bagwell, why doesn't he play for the Astros any more, Oh, yeah, well, he was traded.)(One of those guys also wondered why, in the 9th, the Marlins couldn't pinch-hit a guy who was already in the lineup. I guess I should have moved down the row until I was out of range. It's not like there's a crowd there or anything.) but in this case I couldn't help myself. I had to turn around and let him know who was Venezolano and who no. He went from being indignant about my corrections to unreasonably proud that Hidalgo was once an Astro. I wonder if he knows that Carlos was released.

Well, Castro can't be too pleased with the ChiSox in the WS. There's a history there.
