You guys all know that I kept the faith all year long- arguing with Alkie that we were better than we were playing and then creating and maintaining a shrine to the baseball gods. It's funny how many people saw that shrine and laughed during the summer- but wanted to call and congratulate (as if I did something) about going to the World Series and not losing the faith.
Having established my bonafides on not jumping off this bandwaggon, I must say that some of yall need to lighten up. For the bandwaggoners out there that just want to be associated with a winner- truly that is ok. Do you really think they are going to have the same depth and appreciation of this run that you, as a "real fan" have got right now. No- just let them have their fun in the reflected glory of the Astros- since that is all you have going on right now anyway.
It's great for the team and great for the city and the state in general. Let them run around and be happy- it ain't gonna hurt you (except for the fact that I don't get to go to the WS b/c I shot my entertainment wad and then some taking my family to Game 5 in H-town). Still and all, it was worth it, and I don't regret not waiting for the WS- only slightly that the astros couldn't celebrate at home.
Ease up on the bandwaggoners- part of what makes this run fun is seeing people that don't otherwise follow the game get excited about it. Who knows, maybe this will plant some seeds that will generate into true fandom, and the bandwaggon will be bigger.
At the very least Uncle Drayton will take their money and maybe that means we can afford to continue to put the quality product on the field that you and I "true fans" have come to know and love the past 14 or 15 years when the astros have only finished below 2nd place 1 time since 94 or so.
