You guys played a good game.  This series is going to be close.  The Astros better come to play on saturday because the calls aren't going to go your way all the time.

Go fuck yourself, you fucking troll douchebag.

Go cry with your cocksmoke bandwagon 3rdinal friends, because your whiney bullshit isn't going to get you anything over here except a quick kick to the junk.

After Oswalt gets squeezed on the corners ALL night, you come in here bitching about calls going the Astros ways?

Fuck off.

Gee, and for the first two sentences, I thought "what a classy thing to do."

You lost.  The fuck are you whining about calls?

You know we've won 4 of the last 7 (including 3 of the last 4 in YOUR STADIUM) against your unbeatable team, right?

What calls?

The strikes Roy threw to Edmonds that were called balls?

No Mark, we better come to play Saturday.  Because if not...whooboy.  You never know what kind of beat down we're looking at.

I mean, hell.  All that's happened so far is we've played 2 games in Busch and we've outscored the mighty mighty Cards with our punchless offense and split the series.

But I'm sure it was just some calls going our way.

Indeed.  Brilliant play in LF to open the gates and blow the game open.

Gosh, I wish we had defense like that.  And that hitting!  We've been outscored so far by a whopping -1.

Yeah, there was that call that kept Alphabet from covering fist on Willy's first inning bunt, and that call which caused Eckstein to clank a grounder, and that call which forced Reggie to bounce a warning track flyball off his glove and then forced him to smack his head in the dirt.

Those were bullshit calls. My God, the gall of the umpires.

Molina gift wrapped the first Houston run.  And he almost gave the Astros a two out gift by throwing wildly to third on Berkman on another wild pitch.  Franchise made them pay for that one because I doubt Berkman scores from second on that scorcher to left.

Last night Molina and Nunez came home on a play that by all rights had no business happening.  It was at best a 50-50 chance of going wrong and opening up a rally for Houston.  They made the play, but believe me nobody that played ball would say it was the smart play to make.

I never said they won because of the calls...i just mentioned that they weren't going to go their way everytime.  Stop being so damn sensitive about everything i say.  If I'm not praising the Astros it's assumed that I'm belittling them.

The blown call at third affected the game, I'm sorry but mentioning that is discussing baseball, not discrediting the Astros.  The Astros outplayed the Cards tonight but since I mentioned the blown call I'm making excuses.  Please re read my post and show me where I said they won because of the calls??? How about the outfielder makes the catch, then the play at 3rd is moot.

You can't bitch about an Ump missing (or not, IMHO) a call at 3rd when you're left-fielder fucked his second can o' corn in as many nights.

On the replay, Burke's leg is between the viewer and the ball/glove.  Therefore, it is impossible to claim that Burke was "clearly out".  And you think you can discern a movment in the pant-leg of a player being tagged, when said player is running at full tilt then sliding into a base?  Would not that activity cause movement in his pant leg?

I don't think it was "clearly" either way. My bias, however, says Nunez had the ball in his glove before Burke's foot hit the bag, but he didn't shift his grip over to actually TOUCH Burke, which is a requirement on a non-force play.
Don't put the baby in the bulldozer.

Hopefully he's just a whiny Cardinal homer that drank just a little too much but yet still found his way here because his last statement of "clearly out" and "blown call" bring suspect to his knowledge of the game.

My opinion of Cardinal fans, with the recent onslaught of trolls, the insistence from the crowd on Sanders curtain call in the first inning last night, and this leap to question an umps call instead of Edmonds lollygagging the whole play, is plummeting.  The team, clearly is a class act (except Taveraz and LaRussa), the fans not so much.

Damn. You should see how Astros fans are treated when they come in here with stuff stuck to the bottom of their shoes. You are etting off way too easily. One play, that was called correctly, but you disagree with, is your only basis of argument?

That's great. But Nunez's glove didn't move *until the point that it touched Burke's pant leg*

which was before Burke touched the back.  Watch the fucking replay.

Any further discussion on this play, with this individual should be labeled as a waste of time.

The blown call at third affected the game, I'm sorry but mentioning that is discussing baseball, not discrediting the Astros.  The Astros outplayed the Cards tonight but since I mentioned the blown call I'm making excuses.  Please re read my post and show me where I said they won because of the calls??? You can't because I didn't.

Blown call at third?  fucktard, nunez missed the fucking tag.  There was no blown call.

Even the commentators agreed with the call after watching the replay about 5 times, saying that the throw was perfect but Nunez missed the tag. Either way the 3rd base umpire had the best view in the house and called him safe without blinking.

In context, the scoreboard had a 4-1 final score in favor of the blood and mud.  But since baseball is now all about ratings and coaches polls like college football, the Cardinals are still in the running for a bowl championship because of their strenght of schedule, their win totals duriing the season and because "clearly" they're better than any team left in the tourney.

So in context, the  score tonight was 4-1 in runs, but the Cardinals get extra credit for being a better team, so that's an additional five runs credited to their account.  Means they won tonight and we're just too dumb to realize it.

No, it's not out of the ordinary at all, when you're talking to your friend, usually face-to-face, or even on instant messenger. When you come to an Astros site, and "razz" us, expect backlash. It's pretty simple, really, when you think about it. You should move on, now.

I came on tonight to be a good sport and congratuate you guys on a good game.  To show you I wasn't on here just to gloat after last nights game.  And because I like baseball and hearing things from the other side and their views on the game.

The Cards could probably beat whoever is going to said bowl, anyway. There are some big boys on that team. Pujols would be scary as a DE. Eckstein's the only one I really see little playing time for. Maybe he could punt or something. He's such a cute lil' fella. Wouldn't want him to get hurt or something.

I made the statement that the Cards were the better team, or the best team in baseball so far this year, in response to a thread wondering why Cards fans on a St. Louis forum predicted the Cards would win game one.

But since I made one statement in a 3 paragraph post in response to the questioning the sanity of Cards fans for thinking the Cards would win game one...people on here seem to think that I think the Cards are guarenteed to win the World Series because they're the best team and that it was a backhanded insult.

Fuck off.

I came on tonight to be a good sport and congratuate you guys on a good game.

*WE* are not the Houston Astros.  We are fans.  Send your heartfelt and sincere kudos to Minute Maid Park, C/O Drayton McLane.  He actually reads any and all mail that comes his way about *his* team.

Nobody cared last night, nobody cares tonight.  You're putting way too much importance in your own existence as a fan of a team.  Last night if folks had fun with you, it was probably for the same reasons as tonight.  You're a bit whack and highly wrapped up in all this fandom shite, aren't you?  Even Astro fans who wander in here with your same self-indulgent 'tude get the same treatment.

And because I like baseball and hearing things from the other side and their views on the game.

Okay, hear this: I clearly think you're sophmoric and waaaay over your head when it comes to baseball talk.

Now go sleep off the drinking and it will all be alright in the morning.  Bye-bye.

Unfortunately for you, we did read.  Your problem is that you have no perspective and think everyone is goofy for the Cardinals.  We know more about the Cardinals than you do and we don't care about your love and devotion for Albert Pujols.  Or more accurately, someone who has taken the name (and age) of Albert Pujols.

And you're problem is that you think that I think that everyone is goofy for the cards.  It's not my love and devotion for Pujols.  That was the first time I've mentioned him.  There are a hell of a lot more people that have love and devotion for your vaunted "big three" than Pujols.

You're not going to get be to disagree that Pujols is one of the best players in MLB, but baseball is a team game and one man does not make a team.

wait wait, why don't you tell us again which team had the best record in baseball? go ahead, we've forgotten.

but don't tell us which team had the best record for the last 70% of the season, that'll fuck up your little dream-team here. also, don't tell us who just kicked the turdinals' asses in game two, you should probably blame that on the umpires. yeah, good. i know, i know, the astros won by three runs, thanks to your best hitter ballet leaping across the outfield and faceplanting on the warning track, possibly injured for the whole series; that was probably the umpires too. no way the cardinals suck. no way. can't happen. best record in baseball. best.

yeah keep the excuses coming, i'd hate to be the one who ruins your little Turdinal's fantasy.

Edmonds baited him into going to third.  The ball easily beat him to third.

He was out, but even if you were to argue about who fucked up it was Nunez for tagging his leg rather than foot, not Edmonds.  Edmonds lollygagged long enough to get Burke to go for 3rd and threw a strike to third in plenty of time to get him.

Do you hate Hollywood Edmonds so much to believe that he was just being lazy out there?  He baits or tries to bait people into running on him quite often.  And the ball was there in plenty of time to get Burke at 3rd.

Fair enough. Let's assume that you're right. Let's all believe that Edmonds was not in fact whipping out his compact to touch up for the cameras, and was not in any way caught unawares. Let's accept that he had a diabolical master plan to lure young Chris Burke into a carefully laid trap at third. Because he does this QUITE OFTEN. He then is not lazy, after all. He is a fucking idiot. Because he has all of 6 outfield assists this year, which is good enough to be tied for 44th among outfielders. So in all the many, many times he has executed his crafty ploy this season, it has worked for him 6 times at the very most. Perhaps LaGenius should pull him aside and alert him that regularly giving runners free bases in the hopes of occasionally securing an out is not a tremendously effective way to win ballgames. Though I'm sure all the times his little bait trick didn't work are mostly the fault of bad tags and poor umpiring. No doubt he should keep trying until he gets it just right.
