I like seeing Burke in there.  Jumping to a ridiculously unnecessary conclusion, since he has been playing well recently, he will definitely play well tonight.

I think he'll play too (said so at 7.23am) but only because Lamb will sit vs. the lefty.  However, Burke hits lefties at a .261 clip, and Mulder at .250, while Lamb hits lefties at a .264 clip (with more power) and is 4/13 (.308) against Mulder.

It isn't a given, but if Burke can hit like this for a while, then Lamb on the bench is a nice option to have against La Russa.
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

The Chronicle's listing today of tonight's lineup featured two LFs and nobody at 1B for the Astros. I guess Lane will be playing really shallow, and Roy will be pitching in to righties.

Here's hoping the 'Stros are more patient at the plate this time around.  I don't mind them swinging at good first pitches (like Berkman's laser into the DP), but Termite was being handed the W by over-eager swings at bad first pitches (witness the weak dribbler epidemic).

Let's take X-Files out tonight, as the Smoking Man (Drayton) has ordered.
